Default so what's too narrow?

on the subject of sgc grading hand-cut cards:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=86840&item=5164664475&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

there must be some standards for grading these they're not sharing. what is too narrow? clearly this card was cut recently to give it sharp edges but theres still some white border (better at least than this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=31719&item=5162485603&rd=1)

I could be wrong but it is my understanding that at least 50% of the left and right borders must still be there for them to grade a "W" card.

"Too narrow" is the enforcement of the value system employed by grading companies on the judgement, personal preferences and implementation of a youthful collector in the 1920s.

I find all hand cut strip cards as a part of Americana, and do not accept the opinion of a grading company to be applicable to the choices made by the card's original owner.

I agree that this Ruth looks best with no border. But this Ruth is crudely drawn, knockkneed, pigeon toed and often portrayed throwing right handed. Difficult to be made attractive.
