Hi,
I am thinking to attend this show. But I am not sure which airport I should book my flight ticket. What airport is the closest?

Washington, PA is about 35 miles from the Pittsburg airport.

while I can't name an airport for you to fly in to (Harrisburg Intl. is approx. 1 1/2 hours away)...Pittsburgh is not the best option here!

From the show dealer packet:

Service between Philadelphia Intl Airport and the Ft Washington Expo Center is provided by Tropiano Transportation (215)643-5397. The one way fare is approximately $20.00 for the 40 minute trip.

Sorry about my wrong directions. I searched Washingtom, PA, which isn't where the show is. It is really in Fort Washington, PA, which is about 25 miles north of Philadelphia.

Folks--As a resident of the Philadelphia area for the past thirty years, it's the Philadelphia Int'l. Airport that serves Ft. Washington. For those on the board attending, shall we get together at the Show? Tim and I will be there, and we would enjoy seeing others, particularly Bill Cornell, Leon, Scott Brockelman, and JC. Come on JC, get a week-end pass!

Cheers, Mike

It's been a couple of years since I've been to the Ft Washington show and it was always a good one for me.
I'm hoping to meet up with Scott Gaynor and my favorite counselor there.
Is there a home base that we can check in at?
I'm looking forward to seeing some dealers that I haven't seen in awhile.
Meeting fellow collectors is always a plus.

I'll be in attendance at Ft. Washington all weekend. SCD/SCD Authentic has a booth where I'll be headquartered. I'd welcome the opportunity to meet any forum members. This will be the last call to get any new listings, photos, price changes, etc., into the new edition Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards, but stop by even if you have nothing new to add.

I do not know if it will help anyone, but I used Pricelin and got Scanticon Conference Center Valley Forge for $45.00 per night.

Gents:

Let's plan to meet Saturday, 12:00 noon, in the luncheaon area at the show. Tim Newcomb and I will be there and I'll have a small sign on the table for VBC Forum. Is Scott Gaynor going to be there? If so, Scott, where is your table located? Looking forward to meeting with fellow board members.

Cheers, Mike

Was wondering if anyone knew what Friday's hours are for the show?

Also...I'm assuming PSA will be there. Do I need to be a PSA member to get a card graded? Was also wondering the approx turnaround time at a show?

Thanks, Keith

will you be there on Saturday, or Friday only? I'd like to meet you, so e-mail me and let's figure out a plan.

To the other board members, Tim Newcomb and I will meet any of you in the luncheon area on Saturday at noon. We'll have a VBC sign on our table. See you then.

Cheers, Mike

Just got back from the Fort Washington show and while it was unrewarding (personally) in terms of purchases, it was worth the trip just to chat for an hour with the board members. It's always fun to finally associate the face and the voice of the people we know only by their board or ebay "handles."

It was fun to meet and chat a while. The show was very well attended but there wasn't much cardboard to be had IMO. Shoeless Joe had a great selection of "E" cards, I just couldn't touch 'em (VERY few "E" cards otherwise). Terry Knouse Sr. (Tik & Tik) had his usual assortment of jaw droppers...great guy as well.

The one thing I did notice was an unusally high number of ungraded...mid-grade T206 HOF's (Matty's, Youngs, Cobb's everywhere!). It also seemed like everyone was talking eBay...I must have heard it no less than a dozen times walking the aisles.

PSA, GAI, Beckett and SGC were all there...Beckett had the most traffic by far (a younger crowd mostly).

Enough rambling...take care,

Mike
