Upon going through some of the infamous scammer Angela McGuire's, (eagle8016,ohiotarheelfan,thunderingherdkid), YahooAuctions feedback, I came upon the discovery that her Thunderingherd kid user id was used to defraud bidders on that site in addition to ebay.

I also discovered that she has the eagle8016 and angelamcguire userid's registered, but unused--probably for future fraud. She's not only been the topic of conversations here, but also on other collecting forums as well. I wonder what she's up to now?

I also was looking at the ebay feedback profile of vintagesportspro, a well known purveyor of worthless spalding cut-outs, and discovered that one of his multiple customers is harleyman714 (a.k.a. drbond02) a fellow that runscott and I have had the pleasure of comunicating with. So either these guys support each other or they rip each other off. It's interesting how seller's of reprints and altered cards are never too far away from sellers of worthless cut-outs. It's also interesting how often the AAA name is found near fraudulent and altered material.

I'm sure when dr.bond (DAVE) reads this I'll be getting a flurry of obscene and threatening e-mails.

Definite reprints:

1952T Mays; look at the stamp "printed in the USA" on the reverse and compare to a graded original.

1952T Mantle; Elephantine sized borders. This particular reprint is being auctioned on Ebay.

T205 Cobb; huge borders, wrong color even though he probably tinted the image using photoshop, and a bad attempt at creating artificial wear on the edges.

1933G Ruth #181; This reprint is already running in another auction on Ebay. It is distinguisible from the original by noting the position of the frame relative to Ruth's right elbow. The clipped corners, like many other of his reprints, an effort to produce a wear-like appearance is priceless.

T206 Red Portrait Cobb; What is this? The lost variation with a maroon background? Like most reprints, the borders are far too wide as well.

T206 Cobb bat off; again, with the biggest borders ever seen on a T206 Cobb. Laughable.

T206 Johnson protrait; wrong color ink for the name, same elephantine borders and artificial aging and/or artificial photoshop tinting.

The bottom left corner on the Joe Jackson strip card is hysterical! Nice attempt at artificial wear. On a whole, in my opinion, each and every one of these cards are altered reprints (and the ones I wasn't 100% sure of were pushed over to that side by the sheer weight of volume present of cards that are unquestionably reprints in this seller's auctions), except the lots, and the 1980s and up cards. Notice how nice the colors on those are presented very accurately without a trace of tint.

The irony is that shill bidding can be expensive for the eBay seller if the winners never pay.

On a totally unrelated note, the bidder 'sportscollector0_1' has bid only (and I mean only) on this seller's auctions. He has a diverse taste, as his picks range from a 1915 Sporting News Nap Lajoie to a 1982 K-Mart Hank Aaron to a 2001 SPX Game Used Barry Bonds. I feel bad for the guy, as he always loses out to someone else.

There it is. The "rare" Hybrid Berk-Ross/Topps 51B Mantle. Looks like if you wash out the 51B (in this case, the reprint of the 51B Mantle) just right, you get a card that has a hybrid appearance halfway between a Berk-Ross and a Bowman!

Hard to make much sense of the titled 'BEST DEAL ON EBAY!!' when the auction hasn't ended and there's no BIN.

Kind of reminds when someone left eBay feedback to me on the order of "Seller sold at bargain price." The final price had nothing to do with me.

A rule of them is that if the seller says the card is a reprint (including 'Looks real to me, but to be safe am offering as a reprint'), for bidding purposes assume the card is a reprint.

Someone will argue to the effect of "But what if the card really is authentic. I know the seller is offering it as a reprint, but he says it looks real to him and the card looks pretty good."

The answer is simple. If the seller claims he can't tell for certain the difference original and reprint 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle, you shouldn't be buying 1952 Topps Mickey Mantles from him online.

Being new to this forum and collecting T-cards, I have seen plenty on bad dealers and scammers. How about the good ones? I am starting to go on eBay to pick up t206 and t205 cards, mainly graded ones by PSA to avoid being scammed. But after reading several posts, I am starting to get even more freaked about, even with the graded cards. Who would you all recommend dealing with for t205 and t206 cards graded and raw. I have a good feel of the signs to look out for on eBay, but would rather stick to the proven dealers. Thanks.

There are tons of good sellers. For every one ebay scammer that we complain about on this forum, (I've done alot of the complaining lately), there are 10 times that many in good sellers on ebay. I tried to remember as many as I could of the top of my head and hopefully all the names are spelled correctly. I wish more new collectors like yourself would ask who the good guys/gals are. It would help put an end to the unscrupulous selling by folks like eagle8016 and Prizesports. The more research you do and the more knwledge you have, the less likely you will be ripped off. My experience with 707 is somewhat different than Leons. They set up at all the Ft. Washington shows. They have a great inventory, however I think their prices are pretty high. From my experiences: If you approach their table, they are not always quick to assist, even if there are no other customers. Also, when they do help, not always the friendliest.
Example: A couple of years ago, they had an R423 single strip card of Babe Ruth. I think they were asking $125-150 for it. I politely asked the long haired one (Jim I believe is his name), if they could do a little better on price. His rude response: "Try to find it at that price!!!!" and walked away. Well, I did find one, as a matter of fact a complete strip of 13 including Ruth,Cobb,Dean,Mack,Greenberg,etc. for $45.00 on e-bay. My 2 cents.
