Default pin backs 1948

Hello All:
Can any of you shed any light on the 1948/1949 Montreal Royals minor league pin backs which were on Ebay last week? I can't find anybody who knows anything about them and would like to acquire some if they are out there.

Thanks a lot,

Mark K. Bowers

Default Mark---

Providing a link to the listing will more likely elicit some response.

Default amazing

Pretty cool pins. What is truly amazing is how much the Clay Hopper pin went for ($428) but I guess if you are Jackie Robinson's 1st ever manager in the professional leagues then you have some clout.

Either that or 2 of Clay Hopper's relatives were going crazy against each other!

I'd be curious how much a Jackie Robinson would go for if it was ever uncovered?

peace, mike

Mark,
Its a very rare little set. I have seen it a few times and I missed this also. The seller probably cost himself alot of money as it seems he listed it in "Books Antiquarian+ Collectable" Not in the regular pin section. If you didnt have a search looking for Montreal Royals items it would have never come up.. I never look there for pins and I know others dont either. In any event a nice pick up for someone..

Yeah, floored to see these -- and to see what they hammered for (definitely missed them).

I gotta think the Newcombe is 2x/3x the final price, if listed more "visibly".
Potentially, same with the Connors.

Al said it, someone got a few really nice pickups; an amazing grouping.

I tried to grab one of these (almost all of them), but none of my bids held. I should have bid higher, but there were some sniping fools that probably would have outbid me no matter what. Great pickup for whoever got them. If anybody has a Jackie (assuming it was in this set), I'd love to see a pic.

FWIW . . .

I see the photos on the Connors and Podbielan buttons are the same as those seen on the 1950 Big League Stars cards; but the Gionfriddo is not.
