Default Does anyone know what this is? Whitman something or other?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/HAL-CHASE-19...#ht_500wt_1413

I'm assuming it's just a cut out picture from a magazine or book?

I don't know, but I've got a pile of catalytic converters sitting in my garage, so I'll be in contact with the seller tomorrow. I can ask him if you want.

I'm pretty sure those were cut out of magazines and encapsulated in one's own personal slab to give the illusion of having value.

Interesting marketing technique. Seller states in the description that he's "asking only $129.95"
But the auction starts at $159.95 w/ a $400.00 Buy It Now.
How much is this Whitman guide (or magazine) worth, when a small tid bit can bring in this type of coin?

This seller is one of those jokers from three or four years ago that made a lot of money with these cut-outs.

He was also a shady seller of burl wood and info booklets on where to find gold on public land. Go to www.toolhaus.org and look at his feedback.

"LOCAL CARD CLUBS AND SHOPS WHO HAVE SEEN THE CARD HAVE SAID THE CARD IS VIRTUALLY PRICELESS DUE TO THE SCARCITY"

Really? This guy says he is in Medway, Maine. Just take a look at where Medway, Maine is and tell me that there is actually a "local card shop" within 500 miles of Medway. Just about as remote a place in the U.S. that you can be.

The card has a BIN now of $1400 -- and increase of about 1000% since yesterday. See? It's already become more valuable in just one day.

$1400??? That's VIRTUALLY PRICELESS!!

I am tempted to message them and ask if they've ever had the paper fibers tested to see if they're "from the era". Gotta check up on the forensics, y'know....

"Virtually Priceless"? Yes! But not due to scarcity.
