Default Yanks Hit 3 Grand Slams

So the Yankees hit three grand slams yesterday in a 22-9 win over Oakland. Curtis Granderson hit one of them. Is he now the MVP favorite over Adrian Gonzalez? Are the Yankees going to beat the Phillies in the Series?

Here's an interesting stat from yesterday's game: a Yankee batter came to the plate with the bases loaded 17 times. That sure sounds like a record.

Default I heard

I heard about this, Barry. What a feat!! Unfortunately I can only even name 2-3 players in baseball today as I could care less about MLB today. So I can't answer your other question but 3 grand slams. Wowsers!!

i am actually suprised 3 GS have never been hit in a game before. Seventeen batters with the bases loaded is amazing!

I guess they wanted to make a statement to the Red Sox, what a game.

Gonzalez has hit 3 HRs in the past 2 games I believe. So it'll likely go right down to the wire.

As far as playoffs, I'm a Yankees fan but the "sawx" are still in 1st place and with Lester & Beckett leading the rotation they will be tough to beat. Yanks have CC but a big dropoff from there. Sure Nova is pitching well but he's young and unproven in the playoffs. Can you rely on Colon and Garcia? I wouldn't rely on Hughes right now thats for sure.

Crawford's bat is heating up too. Other than the injury to Bucholz (and Nancy Drew in RF, but thats expected), Boston has managed to stay healthy most of the year.

Fun time of the year!

I saw that Gonzalez hit two last night. He of course leads by a wide margin in batting average, but Granderson is on a pace to hit over 40 HR, about 125 RBI, and close to 150 runs scored. So his numbers are huge. Either way they should be 1-2 in the voting.

By Phillies you mean Brewers

Gonzalez is making a push 7-12 in the last three games with 5 home runs and 8 RBIs. Man thats a good couple of weeks for most.

The Brewers are incredibly hot right now, but who knows if they still will be in October.

Sox over the Brewers in 6. Gonzo MVP. he has a great shot at leading the majors in Avg And RBI and will only get better. On a side note which team would you rather be, the Sox with fatass contracts for Lackey and Crawford or New York saddled with A J Burdett and Arod ?

Burnett needs to be pulled from the rotation. He's a liability right now.

Lackey and Burnett kind of cancel each other out. I wonder which out of the two will be better in October. I am a life-long Yankee fan, but I think Crawford will be fine. I don't know if he will live up to his contract, but he will probably have close to a Crawford like year next year. If you take away his injury and his first two months of the season, his stats aren't that bad at all.

As for A-Rod, I think his future with the Yanks is going to be at DH. I am hoping that the Yanks tirelessly workout Nunez at 3B in the offseason. He is going to be a very good offensive player, and has shown flashes defensively, but is still a long ways away from being an everyday player because of his poor defense. I think if A-Rod is allowed to DH, there will be less wear and tear and he will put up some huge numbers the next 2-3 years.

It is sad how money plays a huge role in these decisions. But on the other side of the coin:

Garica is on the DL
Colon is wearing down big time
Hughes has shown signs, but his last start was garbage and is still a big question mark.

Besides CC (who can't seem to beat the Sox) and Nova...we are in a bit of trouble. Plus we are putting an awful lot of pressure on Nova to be the #2 as a rookie.
