Default 7/15 - Today in History - Mathewson No Hitter - Post 'Em

1901 Christy Mathewson becomes the first rookie in the modern era of baseball history (post 1900) to throw a no-hitter. The 20-year old right-hander holds the Cardinals hitless in the Giants 5-0 victory at Robison Field in St. Louis.

Post a Mathewson..

I agree, a good indian head would also suffice.

Sweet pin by the way.

What a good looking man... The OM is on fire and that T3 is a classic. Wish I held onto mine now.

Default great cards and a 1915 W-Unc

Great cards so far guys.....really nice. This Matty might be my favorite one since I enjoy scarcity in my collecting.....again, sorry for the other scans...shown many times but a cool card. And as a reminder it's the same pose as the Police Gazette......

The 1910-11 T3 Turkey Red sure is a beauty. One of my favorites. Congrats!

Two really tough white-bordered Matty cards.

And some more T206 front/back combos of Matty.

Hey Jim
As the title of their post says , they are classified 1915 W-Unc. Many in the hobby, including the source of these, Lew Lipset, believe they are not W cards and are some kind of uncatalogued candy issue. Three of those in that grouping are uniquely known. If you remember Lew had about 30 of those type cards in one of his auctions not too long ago. I couldn't believe one of the whales didn't go after them. If they did, my boat would have been sunk . My good friend Matt W. and I were playing cat and mouse with the Thorpe that night too. I ended up winning on my last bid. I am trying to find the three Police Gazettes that correspond to three of those cards. The only one I have gotten is the Phili Team composite one, so far. regards
