Default Vintage Sweaters

Jeff's great picture of Home Run Baker and others wearing their sweaters (below), gave me the bright idea of trying to find a similar sweater. Possibly even adding a logo of a favorite team. Does anyone know of any good sources for such vintage-style cardigans? I checked a number of department stores online. There are a couple close calls, but nothing as realistic as we see in vintage photos.

Sorry, this one's not baseball and it's not a replica () but here's a photo of Andy Aitkenhead's post-game sweater from c. 1927 Saskatoon Sheiks

photo of a teammate with a similar sweater

Default Sweater

The sweater I'm wearing in this picture is one I bought on ebay a few years ago. It was advertised as a 1910-era baseball sweater, but I'm not sure it is specifically baseball. It is very thick, compared to sweaters made today. I was messing around, trying to make it look like a T207 card.

Christy Mathewson says Blauvelt sweaters are best if that helps. Sorry couldn't resist.

William,
So a little light went on! I told my wife I knew where we could probably sell a couple hundred reproductions.

Joe, Thanks for the heads up.

Default John 'Colby Jack' Coombs

Here's a frontal of the same sweater, different photo (or portion of one anyways). Would love to have a replica.

A couple hundred would be great! I'm actually just looking to replace the traditional "monkey suit". Thought this would be a nice alternative. Spring weather should arrive in Boston sometime in the next few months!

This is one of the most gorgeous uniform pieces Heritage has ever handled, consigned by the son of Muddy Ruel, who wore it as a ringer for the White Sox on the 1924 Baseball Tour of Europe.

I know... it's June.
Still, looks pretty close to vintage. What do you think? Afix a logo and you'e good to go.
