FYI, Topps Vault is selling these on Ebay with a $75 BIN:

I bought one of these about a year ago and was very disappointed. It was one of the worst put together auction catalogs I've seen.IMO money would be much better spent on the Halper and Copeland catalogs (you could easily get both for the price of the Guernsey) or any of Mastro's back issues.

Default Topps Guernsey Auction Catalog

Long time lurker to the site.
I was at this auction (just as a spectator) and bought a catalog recently through EBay myself.

I was hoping they would provide a price realized page as well (but they didn’t).

Anyone have any idea how I can find the prices realized on from this auction? I have tried emailing both Topps and Guernsey's, but neither had the information.

This was a very large auction, so I am sure the information is available somewhere in the 'net.

Does anyone have any information?

Thanks

FRANK

As the auction was nearly 20 years ago. I am sure that winning (and probably all) bidders were provided a sheet of winnings bids -- but you would probably need to find an auction participants who actually saved all their materials for so long to get that information.

Good luck on getting that.

Marc

John Basilone has an extensive library for this type of information, if he's not lurking I"ll email him and see if he has it.
If I came off harsh on my previous post I apologize- the catalog does have some unique items we'll probably never see again. But I was disappointed with it and thought it was somewhat obscene the price they were charging for it, especially in light of the Halper catalog being available for as low as 9.95 at bookstores.

Thanks Anthony. The catalog is way, way overpriced...but i wanted it for my baseball library...and teh topps vault was the only place I coudl find it.

I loved looking at the old checks, baseball card contracts, and proof cards from the 50's and 60's, not to mention the original art of the old 1953 cards!

I think these were selling for $100 (not by Topps) recently, so they may have wanted to avoid people buying them and then going to the secondary market.

I won a couple of lots from this auction through the mail, I didn't attend the auction. They did not send me a list of prices realized, though I would like to see one.

Did anyone go to this auction?
It was run so poorly it was a abomination
A female auctioneer was offering a Whitey ford card & had no clue who he was
Lot of neat stuff but a long two days
should have gone to the beach instead

I haven't hit the guy up to ask him how he got the info but just thought you'd want to know.
