Default Wax packs

I have terrible luck with opening packs. Even with a divining rod, I would somehow manage to pick the worst pack in the box. I'd like to try getting some unopened vintage packs. But I've heard stories of people opening the pack, taking out all the good cards and replacing them with commons, then sealing it back. How common is this? Is it a bigger problem with wax packs, as I've heard? Are there good ways of telling if a pack has been resealed? With my bad luck, I don't need anyone making things harder for me!

Buy only graded packs or uugraded from BBCX. Do not throw your money away buying 'unopened' packs on ebay. Good luck in your quest.

Thanks for your reply Steve, that's about what I figured. Ebay - it's both a blessing and a curse, isn't it?

...just for the record, I bought an unopened pack of 1982 Donruss on Ebay for $3.50 and pulled 2--yes TWO--Cal Ripken Jr. RC's out of the pack. I know that many wax pack sellers aren't honest, but that was obviously an exception. (Of course the pack wasn't too old anyway.) Just thought I'd share.

Do you remember who the seller was, Leslie? The convenience of buying from Ebay is nice as long as there's a good chance I won't get ripped off.

And thanks for the info!

I no longer have the seller info. I'm not usually a pack buyer online, but a few months back I saw an auction for one pack each of '82 topps, donruss, and fleer. I got a great deal on the lot and pulled the Ripkens from the donruss pack. Not really a big deal, but I also pulled a Nolan Ryan from the fleer pack and a Reggie Jackson from the Topps pack. Not a bad deal.
