Default Following the painting threads-Ty Cobb

I never had a chance to post this but my fiance's friend painted this for my birthday. The scan doesn't do it full justice! I was quite happy when I opened it up considering my "slight" obsession with Cobb.

Great painting, Charles! That's quite a kingly gift. I'm loving the value scale in this one - I can even feel the atmosphere in black and white.

Bravo!

That's a great painting. Love the brush strokes. It reminds me of the cover art from Dinhofer's book The Art of Baseball-- I just can't remember who the artist was.

Was it really done in black and white, or is that only the photo? If in black and white, that's another great feat to achieve those tones.

The painting is done in black and white. The best part is this was the first time the artist attempted painting people. Quite talented if you ask me.

I'm also a Cobb fan and that painting is amazing! I'm hoping to someday have a piece commissioned for my home office or display room.
