Default A couple odd T206s - seeking opinions

Below are 2 T206s. The Leifield has some writing on the back. Anyone make it out? Signed?
The other is a Warhop with a super dark back. Soaked? Opinions? Thanks

Leifield isn't signed. Lousy attempt at bringing out the writing. HP mediasmart just isn't all that good.

Not sure about Warhop, probably soaking that didn't get all the stain or adhesive off.

I think the top bit is a phone number Something 8- 4315.

Then Lake D or Q ------ center.
Al Mayer Then maybe initials at the bottom right?

Interesting. I wonder if it's a collector sort of like the ones who used rubber stamps?

Default out of the ordinary

Because of Net54 I am convinced that every T206 is odd, a freak or something out of the ordinary. Thanks everyone for making T206 cards seem less common than they actually are.

Default I think Steve is on the right track

old times, when an phone numbers started out with two letters, then a number followed by the last four digits (back home, ours was LYric4-2866 replaced much later by 594). Without an area code, we'll probably never figure out where Lake Whatever is, but fun to work on a mystery like this. Better than the work on my desk today....

I have had several cards with the same charactaristic of your Warhop (who gave up Babe Ruth's first home run and was the pride of Hinton, WV). I think it is an environmental effect...too arid of an environment or something...Soaking will not help it. It is always possible it was the paper originally...a bad batch, so to speak...but I think the die is cast on it.

Thanks for the replies. Can't tell if it says 'Lake' or 'Take'.... Nothing special either way. If anyone can get the full writing - please post.

To me it looks like someone used the back of the card as scratch paper while they were on the phone.

It looks like a phone number.

Lake Dr. @ Smith

At first, I thought it could be scratch paper for a horse racing bet...
