Thanks! I hope you get yours one day!
It was too good to pass up (for me)

All the best!

QUOTE=maximus35;1594179]Josh congrats on winning this card. I was bidding against you. I didn't expect it to go for so much but it's an extremely rare card and I would love to own one in any condition. I'm scared to buy any extremely expensive cards off ebay so my only hope is waiting till the National in Chicago next July or hopefully one will pop up in REA or Heritage. After getting burned a few times off ebay buying PSA and SGC cards with cracked holders that are reglued...I think I'm sticking to buying in person. I see so many cards on ebay that are trimmed and reglued shut in PSA and SGC holders. Personally I wouldn't buy any Sgc graded cards unless I bought them in person as their holders are extremely easy to Crack open and reseal. It's tough to tell thru scans online. In person it's more obviously.

It pisses me off that so many crooks are out there. it's running this hobby we all love. I wish Joe Orlando would open his eyes more and make the PSA holders thicker and more difficult to break into like Beckett holders. My idea would be to make the outside border a dark color like black that way if the holder was tampered with, the clouding around the edges would way more noticeable in scans and in person. What are your guys thoughts on this matter?[/QUOTE]

Jeff, nice run of EPDGs. Keep in mind that the FUN is in the journey - once you cross the finish line, the FUN is over!

Just picked up this Wheat Sporting Life. I have been collecting Zach for over 30 years had never seen this piece before. Very happy to pick this up. Oops meant to put this in the Oct memorabilia section.

Default The Fronts :

...The Chuck Klein must be a short print from the 1934 ?All-Star game weekend . Unique I think , as there is no border ; The Foxx is a new pick-up , while the Al Sheehan has been one of my white whales since I began shaving....

Great pick ups Mike. It doesn't seem that the Greenberg is new, but that is a fantastic piece.

I have been looking for an HA Johnson card as well as for my first signed pre-war card, so this seemed like the perfect card to pick up. Also cool: it is likely the only signed card from that issue and Mr. Jacobson signed using his fun nickname.

I just picked this one up……been wanting a nice Goudy #53 Ruth for awhile. I just sent it off to PSA for crossover. I am hoping to get a PSA4 but considering its in a BVG holder they will probably be biased and want to give it a 3 or 3.5. The lowest grade I would accept is a 4. If not, I am perfectly fine keeping it in a BVG holder. I think it would preserve better for long term.

Still debating on whether to really pursue these or not, but in the meantime, picked up a pair of shorties (Thanks Jerry!). Sadly, couldn't go any higher on the Henry this morning. So who won it?

Default Just got this back from SGC today!

I made a deal with another board member for this sweet addition to my Maine players collection!
I was very excited to put it in a nice holder.

Also, I finally feel like a real pre-war collector!!! I think I am up to 7 pre-war cards!

DJ those 1914 Fatima's are super cool. Haven't seen too many of those.

This one landed on ebay and overpaid a bit but had been looking for a nice 3 for awhile.

I bought this one from Brockelman Auctions - my first T204 and it fits into my Jewish major leaguer collection. As I am not a T204 expert, so I am wondering if the tilt is "normal" for this set. This looks even nicer in person than in the scan, and I don't mind the back damage too much.

Default E136-1 199 Zeenut John Tiedemann pickup

Picked up this nice 1911 John Tiedemann Zeenut with a JJ Collins factory stamp on the back from the recent Brockelman Auction. Thanks Scott. My first 1911 Zeenut with the back stamp.

I'll be putting my duplicate on the B/S/T thread.

I especially like how your post solely mentions the T3, while you proceed to sneak some more cardboard gold into the post.

Picked up the no caption variation (left) of the W554 to go with the caption variation (right) that I already had. Now, I just need the white stock variation! Also picked up a German Transfers stamp. Almost every one of these that I see on uncut sheets are horribly miscut, so had to grab one that was at least somewhat centered.

Now at 15/16 for the set. If anyone has McGeehan, I'm a buyer!

Hehe yeah, no kidding. There is a decent amount of spider wrinkling and some surface indentations, but they certainly don't affect the eye appeal very much. I don't think PSA would have ever given it a 2, but I think it deserved a 1.5. The rest of my set is in SGC holders so I'll eventually crack and submit to SGC for consistency, and I expect a 20 or 30.

Beggars can't be choosers with this set - low grade with good eye appeal is usually about as good as it gets.

A lot of the type 1 Contentneas have the surface wrinkling. Probably an SGC 20....I like it has the remnants of a factory stamp on back too !
