Default Player identity help. SGC submission.

I recently sent these 3 RPPC's to SGC for authentication and encapsulation. I got a call from Earl in customer service (very nice man) that they can confirm the circa 1910 date based on the manufacturing style and back of PC, but they could not positively identify the player. Who is this player? I do appreciate the diligence of SGC on the matter. Thanks.

SGC's reluctance to id players in real-photo postcards, even when so blatantly obvious, has become ridiculous. This does not surprise me at all. Pathetic.

I think those are from spring training for the 1913 season. Hot Springs, Arkansas. And I'd go with the first week of April...

Thanks guys. Surprise on my part would be putting it mildly. But again, you got to like the diligence. I told Earl I would be soliciting opinions, for better or worse.

A little silly in this case. I understand some mis-IDs and wanting to be sure but when the subject takes up the entire image and is clearly in frame and visible, what more do you need?

tbob, you've got some stuff...

Didn't see the squirrel. But if you look at the second row from the top, that kid on a row all by himself, that is young Barry Sloate, the ears are a match. tbob, I'm surprised Barry hasn't tried to buy that from you. Maybe you could get him to autograph it.

Alright... Adams and O'Toole, April 1st, 1913... spring training at Hot Springs.

I knew I had this somewhere. I was getting worried when I couldn't find it.

Haven't seen the slabs yet but received a 40, 10, 10. Id'd as Wagner. Will post pics when received. Thanks to all for the input. Again, nice work by Earl the customer service rep. Thanks!

SGC's cred as a TPG just flew out the window if they can't make an obvious call on this one.

Default Shoeless?

Can't be Shoeless Joe...he doesn't have white on his socks and he's not sliding into third. Those are two sure indicators that it's Jackson...

Cheers,

Also crazy that SGC will authenticate autographs but are so reluctant to id players. Apparently, someone's handwriting is easier to authenticate than their face.

SGC doesn't authenticate autographs. Try again. For the record I think they do a great job and I also think they should have made the call on this one. It wasn't a tough call at all. But it is better to be safe than sorry.

They don't? They slab Spence cards, same difference to me as that's saying they believe the auto is legit.

There's no way they "do a great job" when it comes to player id on rppc's. They do no job. Why should a customer have to come to a message board and solicit opinions, especially on such an obvious id?

The PC's look great, but why the low grade? They present much better then "poor 10's"
If its because there's writing on the back, isn't that the intended purpose of a postcard?

Default Backs

The two 10's are the top two in this pic. Minor back damage was the cause of the low grades on those. Happy with the 40 on the other one. Actually, not too concerned at all with the grading #'s. Just wanted them protected.
