Here is Joe DiMaggio recording his record setting and final hit of his 56 game streak:

Breaking the rules, but I can't not post this photo of a young Koufax just after he'd signed his first professional contract:

Here are a few of my favorites of Vandy & Nolan Ryan:

Baby Nolan in front of Shea Stadium 1968
Vandy showing his double no-hit form to the Midland Park (his hometown) neighborhood kids the day after his second consecutive no-hitter
Vandy signing autographs at the Polo Grounds in 1938
Nolan, Tricky Dick and Gene Autry in Autry's "luxury suite" 1973
Vandy at Crosley Field 1938

Waite Hoyt -

John McGraw of the Giants signed him to a Professional Contract at 15 years old (in 1915). The photograph was taken the day this event occurred.

I also really like this one of Seaver from 1966:

I've been working on the biography of Joe Horlen, big league pitcher from Texas. He is believed to be the only player to have won a baseball World Series in Pony League, NCAA and MLB.

1 - The blonde haired, freckled faced 11 year old with a looping curveball had just thrown a no hitter for Shepard Jewelers (Collins Garden Midgets), 1949. He later threw a no-no on the big league stage for the White Sox in 1967.

2 - Working out on a makeshift mound in his backyard, circa 1948

You're damn right it would, Tony!!

Kenny, LOVE that Conlon image - for some reason, I don't remember knowing he was the photographer.

Have you ever seen a Type 1 of this one?

Definitely my favorite of Wheat.

So many awesome photos. The clarity of many of them is so impressive.
I especially like the ones showing the ballplayers with kids...Gehrig, Ruth, Vander Meer.

Here's my favorite. Although it is obviously not a baseball photo, it captures an impressive historical and inspirational feat.

Default Joe D

Two Photos that I dont think I have shown before of Joe D. We share a birthday together. One is the start of his problem and the other the end of it. Photo taken on the day of his announcement of retirement. Would love to have some of those bats in the Rack!

Wow beautiful stuff guys. Derek nice Seaver photo. I love the Gehrig with kids image that is an awesome photo. I too am unable to pick one photo. That's like asking me to pick my favorite child. For aesthetic and personal reasons coupled with the fact that I have four kids I would pick these four photos today . Tomorrow I would likely pick four others. Thanks for indulging me...

Willie Mays in his only season in Puerto Rico 1955...a gift from the wife
Babe Ruth catching a ball from a bi-plane 1926...a gift to myself
Al Kaline 1955... a gift from my son
Satchel Paige 1941 (Thanks Derek it's nice to see that trade worked out well for both of us).

Default 1908 Giants

This 8x10 photo is mounted on some type of board which has become curled and I am afraid to close the cover on my scanner over the photo. The actual photo is much clearer then this scan.
Handwritten below the picture:
"Presentation to Mike Donlin New York Journal Cup most popular player 1908 presentation by Tom Humphreys"
Donlin hit .334 that year. I cannot find out who Tom Humphreys is.
Christy Mathewson is second from right.

Bryan, that one's a winner in every way. I especially love the crowd and Yankees in the dugout following the flight of the ball, along with Ruth, Gooch and Moran. That diagonal of the facade's shadow ain't too shabby, either.

Bravo!

Another favorite of mine: here is Lefty Gomez warming up before Opening Day 1935. He was following up an incredible 1934 season, during which he won the pitching Triple Crown:
