Hijacking the thread.... Ok, I'm in the following categorey:

Pro-Choice, death penalty supporting, collector of beat up cards (but will accept those that collect nicer grade cards) that will ask a seller to end an auction early, who believes that card grading companies should have three categories (Authentic, Altered and Restored) in which no numerical grade should be assigned.... there's more but those are for starters...

Jeff said it a lot more eloquently than I did- he is very smart, and you should listen to him- but the bottom line is you can't unite people when you make these very outlandish and extreme statements. Do you want to form a group of baseball card collectors, or a group of right wing Republicans? Because if it is the latter, unfortunately I'm out.

I kind of think at this point you've given up on this organization thing anyhow. Not that it's a bad idea, but it just isn't likely to happen.

I worked all day with my first grade students and I guess it is rubbing off on me because my first impulse after reading all the b.s. Jim has spouted today was to find every post he makes and change the topic immediately...still not sure if I will do it but it would certainly make me feel good for awhile.

Joshua

PS Where is Wonkaticket!! His photo jabs would be perfect for this thread!

Since this thread long jumped the shark...

I just thought I'd share the fact that the lead guitarist of Strawberry Alarm Clock (Ed King) later joined Leonard Skynyrd in 1972 first as a bass player and then one of the lead guitarists for a couple of years until leaving a year or so before the infamous plane crash which disbanded the original group.

I happened to get to know Ed King growing up from, of all places, church (true story!).

I was a little young for Skynyrds prime but at least got to see their first reunion tour from back stage both stops when they came into the Capital Centre in Washington, DC.

DJ- It's actually "What's the Ugliest Part of your Body" (some say your nose, some say your toes, but I think it's your mind). And I love the Fugs- I met Tuli Kupferberg a couple of times and he was very friendly and accessible- and yes, I love "Boobs A Lot" too- they were in tight with Allen Ginsberg

Didn't Small Faces also have a hit with the song that goes "I wish that I knew what I know now when I was younger" -- like all of us 300 posts ago

One of Tuckerton's leading attractions is an abandoned fish cannery

My father retired from the Superior Court- I guess that makes him an Old Judge

A moose once bit my sister- moose bites can be very painful

What about "Brown Shoes Don't Make It" or "Suzy Creamcheese" for you Mothers fans

And yes, Colts 38, Bears 20

If this isn't at 500 by 830 eastern, I'll be disappointed

Jeff,

I invited you several times to e-mail me and I would debate you on your pro-abortion views but you have not responded. I wonder why? I don't believe this or any of the other stuff has a place on theis board so if you want to talk abortion or why the Dems have lost every election in recent years except the last one e-mail me and I will tell you why.

Again, I am not bringing up these topics-- simply trying to respond briefly and urge people to e-mail me if they want to debate. Some did--mostly those who equate abortion with murder but don't want to incur the wrath of the pro-abortion enthusiasts on the board.

As I said I can survive fine in the wild wild west where anything goes. Meanwhile, collectors of lower grade cards and ungraded cards will remail ignorant that there cards have been altered.

Barry,

You know and I have told you time and again that you are a liberal has no bearing--I don't care--so other than hopping aboard the anti-Jim bandwagon--don't know why you are giving up.

Jim, Pro-Choice /= Pro-Abortion. You've been told this many times in this thread. Why would anyone want to debate you if you're going to go into the debate being disingenuous?

And to return to the original point of the thread, I would like to emphasize which I believe some intelligent people agreed with--it is wrong to hijack a thread because you don't like the person that is posting or you don't like the topic.

That's it, Jim -- I'm afraid to debate you. Your rapier-like wit would cut me to pieces. I don't know how I would survive.

Also, your insistence upon terming pro choice people "pro-abortion" just underscores your ignorance and your desire to offend -- and underscores my insistence upon not wasting a second of my time 'debating' you. Honestly, I wonder how you treat your children when it is so clear you don't listen to what anyone says other than yourself. It wouldn't kill you to be open and kind instead of divisive and obnoxious. Hasn't anyone ever taught you that?

Now even your friends are e-mailing me(yes, you do have a couple) saying they are begging you to stop as you are making a fool out of yourself.

If you are afraid to debate, fine--but no reason to resort to slander and involve my family.

Why did Colts friends e-mail Jim to tell Colt to quit...all Jim was going to do was tell Colt that his friends want him to quit when they could have just gone to Colt to tell him to quit themselves... Either way, fine drame for the lurkers.

Sunday, go Colts!

You are correct Barry on the title.

I forgot all about Tee Set. That was a great song. Also forgot about Keller Williams "Panama Red", Sir Davis Quintet's "She's About A Mover", Ocean's "Put Your Hand In The Hand" and...ooo...Marmalade's "Reflections Of My Life".

Someone got bit by a moose? How the hell? They appear so slow...was someone trying to aggrivate it? Is it on Youtube?

Cornell was fine...but we're all "lucky" to have "luckey"

Grossman is not as bad as you think he is. He is not the greatest but even Brad Johnson won a Super Bowl at qb when he had a great defense with him. I am old school NFC(L) and always cheer for the teams from the original NFL. I know, I know, technically the Colts are the Baltimore Colts and played in the old NFL until wrenched away in to the AFC and then to Indy, but you know what I mean...

I dont think people realize whats at stake here. We need over 600 more responses in the next 44 minutes if we want that free ice cream from Uncle Leon.

One of the more important issues in this thread that is going unresolved is whether or not Leon has ever been referred to as either:
A- LL Cool J
B- Bean
C- Leaping Leon Poffo OR
D- All of the above

One thing i noticed about all of our past dictators is they all had the double L in their name,eLLiot,BiLL corneLL and Leon Luckey. Gguess that means coLt mccLeLLand or jim crandeLL is next. Gentlemen if you may, please aLLow me to ask one question. How do you stand on the debate of whether the Ty Cobb back is part of the t206 set? Your answer could decide your future

I am still saddened that Jim has not emailed me to decide what he wants to be known as in collector circles.

I wonder what any newcomers to this board are thinking right now.

How about someone visiting this board for the first time tonight?

Think they will come back?

I don't post a lot, but I've been visiting this board for 3 years plus.

Our behavior tonight has been embarassing.

We're acting like children, actually most children don't act this bad.

This has been one pitiful day for Network 54

In reference to LL, if there are any other comic book fans on the board, Leon should be called Superman. Back in the 60's, a recurring theme was LL in Superman comics. Lois Lane, Lana Lang, Lex Luthor, and several others.

I did my normal falling asleep on the couch for about 3 hours (sans drool this time )and just woke up ...what did I miss? I see, not much. If I thought Jeff was bringing family into this I would delete any reference. It was a very passing remark but I will let everyone know that that is my number one pet peeve. I will not let anyone bring someone's family, in any way, shape, or form, into any argument on the board. I have a 0 tolerance policy for that. As for anything else I would hope we would keep politics and abortion issues off of the board. I have my own views but they aren't really for the board. I "try" to use common sense in everything I do and think ....but I have certainly been wrong in thinking some common sense things were common sense....

Randy T.- I sort of agree with you but I still think a thread like this, if it's the exception, and not the rule, isn't that bad. I could be wrong though....

We really should wrap this up soon and get back to cards....take care all.....

Eric Carmen (lead singer and also bass player). The year was 1972.

Go All the Way was one of the all time one hit wonders. Great song.

Lee,

I dunno, the way I see it, this is sort of a parody thread. There is alot of great information on here as long as you don't click on this thread.
Take care.

I usually don't post in these sorts of threads but this one jumped the shark as one earlier astute poster noted above.

...but...Jim, I really hope you don't have girls at home. I also really hope that they never ever start smoking, yell at their parents, stay out too late, get bad grades, hang with the wrong crowd, do any illegal drugs, drive drunk, get in the car with someone who is drunk, hitchhike, mistreat animals, have sex before marriage, get pregnant before marriage, get pregnant before they graduate middle school, get raped, get pregnant from said rape, have a health screening that finds them pregnant with a horrifically deformed child, have them end up infertile for any reason, get cancer, get any kind of disease like diabetes, parkinsons, ALS, MS, or any blood disorder or any other disease that might be cured by stem cell research, but most of all I really hope that they don't listen to the right wing, uninformed, biased, judgemental rantings of their father.
