Default PSA, SGC, BVG or SCD worst mistakes...

This is a spin off from the thread - "How did this get a PSA 7?"

Can we get a list of the worst screw ups by the major grading companies?

Note that I like picking up PSA screw ups. I think the coolest one so far is a T201 that is folded and encapsulated in one of the modern day card holders. The biggest error I have is an N172 of Sunday with the ad bottom cut off.

The best errors by the grading companies (only PSA, SGC, SCD, BVG considered). Jury is still out on GAI (at least for me). I'm pretty sure we can leave out AAA, PRO, ASA and a few others.

Is the jury really still out for GAI? These are my newest pics of cards GAI graded to "make right" for cards they screwed up trying to "make right" for a card they lost.

Ryan,

I am assuming that the "First Graded" denotes the first of a certain card to be graded by GAI. How can the two top cards which appear to be same card to me be the first graded of that particular card?

One was the first "6" graded of that card, the other the first "5.5" graded of the same card. No joke, that's the way they do it.

Ryan,

You're lucky. I'm still waiting for a card that GAI has had for almost a YEAR. Maybe it's time for small claims court.

Thought you guys might miss these as they are hockey:

But, I've seen back hairline wrinkles visible only under a strong light knock a card down to a 3 sometimes.

That first Hockey card in Elliot's post is a amazing. A rip right through the guy's head and it still grades a 4. This is the third ripped front card graded a PSA 3 or 4 I've seen recently, though the only one with the player's picture actually damaged.

I just don't understand how this could happen. Even if the grader was drunk, he would have to notice a rip on the front of the card. And isn't a second grader supposed to look at the card, even if only briefly, for quality control purposes? And if a rip can be overlooked by mistake, how about a massive crease, a clipped corner, or even a counterfeit card?

Is it possible that these overgraded cards are not oversights, but favors?

Here's another interesting one. If they had bothered to turn the card over they would have realized it's an E220 National Caramel.

I sent in a baseball card with a rare Pirate back and PSA put it in a holder graded as a T206. G-d save the Queen!

I know some dealers tout a ragged edge as evidence of the card's pristine nature; to me it is evidence of the cutter's worn out blade.
