Default Talk about a scare

8/14/14 I went to the usps with a submission for PSA. Just 10 cards in a Priority box. I had other packages and also needed a money order for my psa. The clerk was new and it was a little busy at this time. I kept my focus on my money and getting the MO in the box. Now here is where it gets weird. I see the clerk putting stamps on my priority box, so I ask whats up and she said these are Priority stamps and I'm like OK whatever. she hands me my receipt and it was the usual lengthy piece of paper and my change. A few days go by and I like to see how things are traveling. WTF? I look on my receipt and it has no tracking number for my priority box boing to PSA. She didn't put tracking on my other box either. Ok maybe that one is my fault, but they usually ask if you want tracking for parcel post. But Priority comes with tracking automatic. I waited a week to go back and I hoped to find the same girl and ask her what she had done. In the mean time I had contacted PSA about my shipment and they told me when it arrives they will enter the tracking # that I don't have. I went to the USPS and the girl wasn't there. As I imagined it was a waste of time and I was told to calm down it will likely get there. 1933 Goudey SK Ty Cobb, 1934 Goudey Gehrig etc. I am questioning the use of these priority Stamps and then no tracking. I left and was told the girl would get a good talkin' too. Now each and every day that has gone by I would log into PSA and hope to see my order logged in, well I just got an email today 13 days later and without a hint of knowing if I will ever see my cards again, they are safe at PSA. Phewwww!. So just keep an eye on the USPS clerk should they try putting these stamps on your priority packages. Check your receipt before walking away. Save on the stress I just went through.

I freak out like that even when I have tracking and see any package I'm involved with make it's way to or from me. So much so that I barely even enjoy the cards I've received at first...I just want them in my grubby hands!

Default PSA story....

I know exactly what you mean as I am always nervous that the cards will go missing from my post office to the west coast. I am always relieved to get the PSA email........well......GREAT NEWS!

I am SLOWLY sending my 1948 Bowman Basketball cards from the "2014 Vermont Find" to PSA in small batches. I am seriously afraid of losing a bulk of them in the mail so that is why I'm doing small batches. I just got an email from PSA that 4 cards that I recently sent were graded and shipped today to me. Here are the results:

- NEAR MINT-MINT 8 1948 Bowman 2 Ralph Hamilton

- NEAR MINT-MINT 8 1948 Bowman 9 Andy Phillip

- NEAR MINT-MINT 8 1948 Bowman 22 Earl Shannon

- NEAR MINT-MINT 8 1948 Bowman 35 Screen Play

I am ecstatic to say the least as the #2 card is the highest PSA ever with I think 14 others. I actually have a BVG 8.5 also of #2 which I am keeping in BVG holder for now as it is tied with an SGC 92 as highest ever graded! No PSA of #2 exists higher than an 8.

I am ECSTATIC!

peace, Mik

Default when I send cards

for auction or grading I use usps registered mail. The peace of mind is worth the extra work and expense. Still sweat each and every package I send or am due to receive as it's an imperfect world.

Having never submitted cards I can't imagine the stress. Here's my idea, why doesn't psa or sgc create a mobile grading system where they can come to your house and grade cards for a premium? They could do it privately from a van with all the necessary technology inside. You would make an appointment. This obviously wouldn't work everywhere but regionally could.

I had the same thing happen to me with an eBay sale. Luckily it didn't become an issue.

PSA used to do this. During one such call to my house their van was parked in the street for an excessive time. My neighbor became concerned and gave me a ring. "I'm just paying some specialists to look at my baseball cards, tell me how good they are, and protect them for me." He was confused by the matter but believed my story even though his wife was sure we were doing drugs or something. Long story short some neighborhood kids walked by and asked what was up and we said "looking at baseball cards." The neighbor's wife freaked, SWAT showed up, and Joe Orlando spent the next two hours in cuffs beside me trying to explain that he "wasn't the dude from 'Girls Gone Wild'." None of cards graded high (go figure), the Miller's will no longer attend our BBQ's, and PSA discountinued the service. I apologize for the inconvience I have cause.

Editors note: None of that really happened.
