That won't even get a bid.
The ebay buyers might be getting a little smarter.
The bad Mantle's, Williams', Joe D and Koufax stuff is selling for pennies on the dollar.
And there is a ton of it out there now.

Imagine trying to sell a ball signed by Ruth...and not even showing a picture of Ruth's signature. Just ludicrous.

From the look of the threads, it appears to be a vinyl covered ball.

My Question: Were Jim Rice and Babe Ruth teammates in Boston?

No they did not jim rice played for the red sox and in was in th 1980s and 90s. That i got my self but it doesnt matter I sold the ball to a private collector for a thousand dollars yesterday

The guy is a lier and a moron. Rice played in the 70s too, incl MVP in 1978. The private collector, if he really paid a grand, is a jerk too. Hopefully the seller will come back w another wonderful ball, such as a Ty Cobb and Miguel Cabrera combo, w no picture of the Cobb.

I would be willing to bet he never sold that junk.
I get that story all the time when I am buying stuff on the internet.
"Oh I sold it for $xxx (3 times what it is worth) to a collector"

That one might actually make for some good debate...

Are we sure it isn't legit? I've seen authentic versions of Cobb that look very much like that...

I would not risk 8K on it... or even half that... or a quarter for that matter. Especially without PSA or Spence Authentication. The seller is either short-sighted, greedy or dumb (or a combination of the three).

But it did strike me as an auto that could go either way. I have seen a lot of authenticated Cobbs that look quite similar in style. It won't sell at that price, but it will be interesting to see if this one is allowed to run its full course.

Anyone else want to chime in on the Cobb Ball in question?
