Default Lets seeyour negro league items

The PBS station near me has been showing the "Shadow Ball" inning of Ken Burns' baseball and it motivated me to post some of my newer negro league pick ups and send out a call to see the other negro league/black baseball items that board members have. The items listed below are

1 Page from Chicago Defender 1942- I think sometimes we think that the Negro Leagues didn't have much of a media following but we forget that there were black newspapers that gave them the same kind of coverage that white papers gave the majors

2. 1907 Postcard with integrated semi pro team - see my George Wilson post a couple weeks back for more info

3. A flyer for the Indianapolis Clowns circa 1962-- few realize that the Clowns continued to tour for decades after Jackie

4. A 1920's snapshot - has anyone seen this image before-- I just have the feeling that I've seen it before

Here's from some scorebooks I've picked up recently. Games include the 1941 KC Monarchs (shown), Memphis Red Sox (shown), 1931 Homestead Grays (shown) which include players like Buck O'Neill, Sam Bankhead, Oscar Charleston, Josh Gibson amongst others. Other teams in the scorebooks include: Jacksonville Red Caps, Cuban Giants, Brooklyn Royals, Havana Red Sox, St. Louis Giants, Baltimore Black Sox.

Yes, the full-page photo of Effa Manley came from an African American magazine from the 1940's.

Here's a Broadside from the 1930's "Brown Cubs" which were only in existence for a year as I understand. "No drinking, No gambling, No Swearing". 35 cent admission written in a crayon-like marking.

Here are two of my favorite HOFer game bats -- Biz Mackey and Martin Dihigo. They are both sidewritten and the Dihigo is also vault marked.
