How about Bobby Witt? He's not vintage,but he played like he was born in 1910.

And let's not forget Dr. Mike Marshall.

Scientifid American had an article a year or 2 back that talked about baseball players that went on to PhDs and there were only 2 listed, Marshall and one other player (from the 60s) that is now considered one of the leading physicits in the world.
