March Pickups...
I don't usually post in the pickup threads, but I want to start March with a thank you to Bryan (Jobu) for pointing out this one that arrived today and has been on my want list for a long time. I likely overpaid, but with these only coming up in what seems like 18 month gaps and missing the last few...I could care less.

Happy with this one. I missed out on a low grade one that the Detroit Pawn guys sold on eBay last year. This one fits my collection to a "T" and is proof another will come along eventually!

I sent out a message on bst for a nicely centered e90-1 Cobb with good color and image. I thought I would get no response because these cards are so tough to find centered. Not only did a member respond with the perfect card, but it is the very card I had been angry that I missed on REA. Thank god for n54.

Actually my comment on your pickup caused Bryan to point this auction out to me.
It all worked in a perfect circle.

New Highlanders and some Yankees...
I am a wood artist and recently I decided to sell some of my old vintage tools. I got the money and bought some cards for my Highlander/Yankee team type collection. Last two days I have looking out the window waiting for my Postman. I'm very happy today.....

I am starting to warm up to these pre-war type cards...
Got these three Old Mill cards from another member of the board (thanks Ben!) and I absolutely LOVE them!
I think I am starting to get hooked on these little tiny cards. I am up to three of these, two T206, three M116, and one Old Judge. |

I didn't acquire the entire Cleveland commons subset in February/March, but I did receive the last one I needed (Terry Turner) in March. I also knocked off 2 more T206 HoFers that I got for steals of deals, and the eBay seller was so nice I wanted to throw him a bone and buy 2 more of his auctions. Got the '62 Cassady (Go Browns; I know, I know, y'all are sorry for me) and a nice Boggs RC for my HoF PC. Hopefully my next March pickup is the house we're waiting to close on...

I was surprised to be the initial bidder the day the auction opened, and win it with the one bid. I know the ink on the back should have resulted in a MK designation, but still, a really nice O'Hara, as far as I can see.

No one seemed to notice my O'Hara earlier, so I will see if this gets a response. Six down, 33 to go, what do I mean by this statement? (for the advanced T210 collectors)

Once again, a prayer is answered on the BST. In this case, two prayers. The 1908 Brush Ty Cobb (mislabeled 1910) and the Max Stein. Each of these cards have a known graded population of 5. The Brush is best known specimen. The Max Stein would be graded higher were it not for two small holes on top from a removed staple. Needless to say, I am thrilled.

Ben, you are no amateur. I now have 6 of the 39 series eight cards that are not in the T211 set, which are possibly the toughest 39 in that series (like the Birmingham and Memphis cards). I was just seeing if I could get any response to one of my posts. Like the O'Hara I posted, I post cards that are a big deal to me, and often get no response. It makes me wonder what I'm doing wrong? Anyway, I'm glad someone sees my cards, thanks!

Ben, I thought we were a group of collectors who shared a love for cards. Isn't this the place to share recent acquisitions regardless of price? I view it as a place that I can share my excitement with the only people on earth who would understand. To call it "showing off" is disrespectful and Presumptuous. I personally don't need to "show off" a damn thing. And since I didn't print the card, am not related to Ty Cobb, and did not cure Polio, I am not sure what there would be to show off about. I am sharing my excitement with the only people who will appreciate it since my wife, kids, and friends don't. I have always liked your posts, and you seem like a decent guy, but that is out of line.

Guys,
You both are really good guys on here. I don't think Ben was aiming at you, Orly, or your beautiful Cobbs. It was just a response to me. I think we have enough strife on other threads, and I was not trying to make any kind of statement one way or the other. I really was just curious if anyone read anything I write, because I rarely get any kind of response. Both of you are top notch guys that appreciate the cards, price be darned. I value the contributions of both you guys. Sorry if my comment got things off track here, and I hope we can all be friendly with our discourses. Let's all have a fun day, I hope? Ed

Thanks, Jason, I was stoked to get them. That O'Hara is just puzzling me. When a card sells on my one bid, way under what I thought it would sell for, I always wonder if there is something I am missing. Then, I post it here, and start thinking by the silence, people don't want to tell me that I got suckered by my purchase. Anyway, enough of me for a while.

When I post here I like to post my best as well, but tend not to get much response. Here is a recent pick-up...do you think it is more valuable because it measures tall and has a wide white gap in the middle?

Yellowhorse
I picked this up in Feb., but just getting around to posting it now. Not sure what happened to it - some type of art deco creation. It looks like someone painted a blue rectangle around the back of Moses, then used white paint to outline him. Finally, they used a red pen to make Xs all around his silhouette. Also, they glued his name on a piece of paper that is partially covered. In hand, it's actually pretty cool to look at! Any info on what/why this is what it is would be appreciated!
