Default Memory Lane

Posted By: James Feagin

With the demise of Mastro it seems as if many auction houses (including the one I work for) are starting to benefit in receiving quality pre-war material. I know Memory Lane is controversial around here, but there is no denying the are picking up some marquee items lately. I clicked on their latest auction that is live today. Some very nice material including a Baltimore News Ruth. With REA still at one auction per year, it seems as if the wealth is starting to be spread around more. Memory Lane, Goodwin, Huggins and Scott (who I work for) and others are really start to benefit from this. Could make for some interesting conversation fodder the whole year through. Thoughts?

from what i have been told by some knowledgeable folks is mastro is only one of a couple more houses to go down this year. so the material can get even better for fewer houses.

one of the most insightful gentleman on the board is Bruce Dorskind. His Corporation has the most talented business minds in NY. they have already predicted many things concerning wall street, i believe they have some information about some more auction houses for 2009.

who can argue with that!? happy.gif

Rob Lifson sent out an e-mail announcement a few weeks ago stating that he was going to two auctions per year.

I talked with Rob about a week or two ago, & he told me that a 2nd auction is "not set in stone yet", but its something they were considering. I didn't get the email that was previously mentioned, but I've been a little spaced out lately, so I could have missed it.
