Default Seeking help with some George Burke photos

Hi, can anybody tell me when this photo was printed? I realize George Burke took the original photo in about 1938, but I'm if there's a way to tell when he or someone else made this copy. Were copies made of these later with his stamp? Any help is appreciated ...

Default Burke

Lance (el gato pjs) can probably help you out. He is a frequent poster and the go to guy for Burke photo questions.

Looks like it was shot in 1937 (only year Johnny wore a number that started with a 2 with the Reds). Definitely printed sometime between then and 1948 when Burke suffered a career-ending heart attack and Brace took over the archives and day-to-day operation.

Most likely printed between 1937 and 1939, but I need to continue my cataloging of Burke stamp styles to include more samples before I could say that definitively. That's where the evidence is pointing at this time though. Someday I'll be able spare the time to pick that project back up. Anyone want to sponsor the research?

P.S. Thanks for the shout-out, Curt

Any time. One last thing: looking at the scan again, I'm not 100% sure whether that is a 2 or a 3 we're seeing the side of. If you can tell me which it looks like in person, that would help to make sure I have accurate info in my records. Either way, thanks for posting it!

Lance and Chris,
FWIW, uniform style with piping trim, stirrup sock style and hat do not match up with other photos that I have of Vandy from 1937. Additionally, it doesn't match Reds uni styles from post 1938.

I'll be curious to see what Chris has to offer about the uni number. It definitely doesn't look like it's uni #57 from 1938.
