Default OT..Check this auction..300211657400....psa 8.5 vs 8

Posted By: Paul Grubor

Those are the nicest pictures I've ever seen. I wonder what photo host he's using? I bet my sales would increase 15% with images like those. Anyone have any idea as to the service?

Also, Anyone notice a certain percentage that 8.5 vs 8 via PSA is fetching? I've seen 8.5's go for slightly more that 8's. Are those that are building psa 8 sets going to bother with an 8.5? Those with Registered sets might want to upgrade, but I doubt it.

Paul,

I would say that very very few collectors would buy an 8.5 to upgrade an 8.

Lots would upgrade with a 9 or upgrade a 9 with a 10 but my sense is too minor of an upgrade unless weak 8/strong 8.5.

8.5s are getting a moderate premium to 8s based on what I have seen.

Based on vintage I might bid 25% more than I would for an 8.

Jim

Paul - the image quality has nothing to do with the hosting service; it has to do with your scanner.

You sure that a host like photo bucket doesn't have better quality than ebay's photo service? What kind of scanner do you think that person has? Those are dynamite pictures don't you agree?

I don't know of any way to determine the scanner by looking at an image. They are nice images. Ebay's photo hosting limits you on the image size, which means it's a smaller picture to look at. http://www.ImageShack.us is an example of a free photo hosting service with no limit on file size. Of course, the bigger the image, the longer it takes to load. Most scanners have settings to increase the resolution; higher resolution = better looking scan.

...scanner, but it is all in the software you use with your scanner. I recommend Google's free software called Picassa. You can host photos on-line with it (for use here and in ebay) and you can toggle the hue and tone of the images to make them look as crisp and bright as they would be in direct sunlight. I only use the one free ebay image to have an image that shows up in the search listing. But for my auction, I always include a URL to my Picassa photo.

One of my favorite scanned images:
