Default Black Sox Postcard

Here is a very nice item that just went off on Ebay. Are Postcards starting to finally get the respect they deserve? Where else can you have an entire team photo in uniforms with names on it validated with a stamp on the back?

I think the high sale price was more indicative of the strong market for original Black Sox material than a change in the postcard climate. Though any strong sale like this is probably a good thing. I never would've guessed this item would have cleared $1000 and was amazed at the final price.

I keep my eye out for postcards of my hometown and anything baseball related goes for good money. My town won the state championship in 1908 and any card featuring a player, the team or picture of a game from that year will cost well in excess of $100. The most expensive one I saw a real picture post of a famous local photographer that produced a lot of post cards. The picture was of a game in Sioux Falls, SD in 1904 and went for over $500.

I'm always amazed that Dietch postcards can be had for the same price of postcards that feature townball players.

I've just reached Upper Lower Class. I am now officially a babe magnet for poor chicks.

Oct 2, 1919 (the day the PC was post marked - in Chicago) was game 2 of the World Series played in CVG. The Sox outhit the Reds 10-4 but lost the game 4-2. Joe Jackson went 3-4 that day. That PC is just fantastic.
