Default **SOLD** 1969 Peck & Snyder Cincinnati Red Stockings

This is the 'red ad back' version that is generally accepted as the first baseball card….if you accept any of them as being the first baseball card. The printing (player names, etc) has been trimmed from around it, leaving a 'cdv' look. The image itself is extremely clear and in great shape - compare the 'C' on the jerseys with other images. **SOLD**

That card would have way out of my price range, but I just wanted to post how cool it is to see a Peck and Snyder Red Stockings card get sold on here. Less than an hour from listing to sale. LOL

It's really a great card - the albumen image is superb.

I hate to sell stuff like this, but my inventory has slowly evolved into almost totally 'collection', which means at this rate, by Christmas I'll be eating Costco dog food and warming my hands over a trashcan full of burning refuse.

Joking temporarily aside, I have made a short list of items I'm allowing myself to keep, so look for more good stuff as Christmas approaches.

That's a great looking card. Whomever got it should be very happy.

BTW, I think there have been other 5 digit sales on our BST, (not knowing if this was one or not, nor any of my business). A few of our members have big piggy banks. (not me)

I've had three emails asking me what the sales price was. I don't divulge that information for one reason: buyers generally assume that I won't, which gives them the freedom to post the item without thinking their financial decision will be revealed. If they want to give you the price, fine.

This brings up an interesting point about posting sale prices here, which has been debated a few times. Yes, most AH's allow you to see final bid prices; however, they don't post the winning bidder's name. To me it's all about tying the price to a name - that should be the new owner's decision.

Even though it happened in a flash, it was really fun to sell this card (more fun to own it). The new owner was very happy to get it, and that takes the sting out of relinquishing it. Also, parting with one of your favorite collectibles makes it easier to let go of the less-desirable ones, and I really need to do that.
