After the near concensus on his poll, I am going to be disappointed if we don't see a nice scan from Jeff tomorrow.

Here is my Carter pedigreed card. Still working on finding a Nagy.

I got all six of the horizontal poses back for my second run up the T206 mountain -- each in better condition than my first run up the mountain. But given that I've sold another 50 or so cards, I'm going to be at this awhile... again...

There is no silver medal in card collecting, Jeff.

(On the other hand, I was about $90K short from even thinking about a card like that. Sorry to hear you did not buy that one. You'll get the next BS Cobb that comes for auction!)

Yes they are coasters. Advertising Anchor Steam Beer, Anchor Brewing Company, San Francisco. Couple of light brew stains on a couple so probably wouldn't get higher than SGC 40. I'm going to try anyway since some are NM and should get an 84.

9 players. Bodie, Stewart, Meikle, Shaw, Byrd, Zamlock, Williams, Henley and Sutor.

No Miller. Thank goodness or they would be impossible to get. Sorry Brian

Steve, as soon as I saw those I started looking them up. I'm probably as relieved as you are that there is not a Miller.

Excellent Hendrix CD (cards are nice too). One of my favorite Hendrix songs is "If 6 was 9" - reminds me of the whole grading thread.

Brian- You're going to have to let me win one of those Zeenut Millers or everyone is going to cost you a bunch 'cause it's one of the few remaining ones I need!

Paul:

All those cards except the Diaz Cigarettes Ruffing came from one lot in Mastro. A mishmash of a bunch of cards of which I will keep four or maybe five. Jimi was my lone EBay win.

This one is for Jeff L.

As nice of an SGC30 '14CJ Matty as I ever expect to see. Had a strong bid in but it wasn't run up at all during OT. Am I happy? You bet! Thanks, Bill M. and a special nod of appreciation to the venerable Mr. Carter for the TLC you gave this beauty.

My favorite card in the Superman set. Thanks, Charlie B.

David, I love that picture. Love it.

And that Matty is a beauty. I was in there a couple bids below. It was the strongest I'd ever seen for that grade - and a Lionel Carter card as well. Great, great pickup.

I'm far, far from an authority on Cracker Jacks, but I must have went back and looked at that Matty 10 times on the Mastro Web site, trying to figure out why it was graded only good. I just went back and looked again and am no closer to an answer than I was before.

THAT BOX IS MASSIVE. How many lots did you win? When the FedEx guy dropped off my box it was this little thing that I could fit in my jacket pocket.

Rob: I thought the 30 grade was severe, too. According to their website, one SGC criterion for a 30 is "usually exhibits one or more of these characteristics: heavy print spots, heavy crease(s), pinhole(s), color or focus imperfections or discoloration, surface scuffing or tear, rounded and/or fraying corners, ink or pencil marking(s), and lack of all or some original gloss." The Carter CJ Matty exhibits none of these flaws except rounded corners. SGC 40 requires that corner rounding not be excessive; I guess the SGC stormtrooper thought the corners were too round for a 40. According to Mastro the card reveals "corner and edge faults consistent with its grade" (who am I to argue?) and "reflects technically ascribed Good condition with an uncommonly superior overall aesthetic" which I think is Mastroese for the card is nicer than the grade. The couple of other 1914 CJ Mattys that I have seen of late at auction have had alot of staining and little bite marks. For me this card oozes eye-appeal, low grade or not. Those rounded corners don't bother me one bit. I am glad it wasn't graded higher because the zillionaires would have blown me into the ditch.

Cat: I also won an 8x10 photo of Joe Louis ("To a good fighter from a lucky one"). That accounts for the width and length of the box. And I won a ball signed by Diz and Pee Wee. That accounts for the height. BTW, looks like the FedEx Man was kind to you, too.
