The Magazine is from the late 20s.

When I first saw the article, I definitely paused. Couldn't believe there would be such a blatant article in such a popular magazine... but I guess that it is a sign of the times. Quite honestly, I didn't read the whole article.

I didn't think it would be appropriate to post... especially thinking someone might misenterpret my intent.

From a historical perspective, I wasn't sure if you would be interested in seeing it.
I could email a scan to you (or anyone else) if you would like. Or if the board feels it is okay to post it, I will post it.

I would be happy to let it be posted as an example of how far we have come. One of my biggest pet peeves is not talking about history and thinking it didn't happen. It's a social injustice, imo. Just caveat that the article might not be your opinion and post away...I'd like to read it too......this is America....

Johnny is one of the seven catchers from the 1905-1918 era that I collect.

Here is the article that I was talking about.

It appeared in a January (1925 I believe) issue of 'Baseball Magazine'

I must say this...

...I have not read the article through - the title was enough for me to realize that I didn't want to read it.

...Good / Bad or Indifferent - I do not share the view of the article - it is not my article -
I post it only for a historical perspective for people who stated they would like to see it.
