Default Green Arrow

OK, it's been bugging me forever, and I can't figure it out. What is it that puts a green arrow in front of some posts?

I remember a few years ago when somebody mentioned you could click the icon on the left and it would go to the last unread post instead of scrolling through them all. That's saved my about a year off my life since then!

An easy way to just read the newest post from the last time you were on this site is to hit he NEW POST button on the blue bar above threads and you will see all new posts. The last one will have that green arrow.

I usually put a green arrow before my BST posts. When you're creating the post, there's a selection of icons below the white box where you're typing your post. See this screenshot below:
