Default Barry, Need help with this CDV image..

I just picked up this CDV of a small child in a uniform. Any idea as to the approximate age of this? This CDV is from R.H. Child, on Main Street, Port Chester, NY

Thanks,

Rob L

It would help to see the full CDV to help date it. Looks to be late 1860's. Not baseball related. Children were often dressed in decorative pseudo military-like clothing for their photos during this period.

That is Jesse James in a early prison uniform at the age of 7 , what a cheesehead.

I thought it looked like a Johnny Evers child photo.

A few quick thoughts: while it is common to see adults of that era wearing baseball uniforms, it's hard to imagine that someone was manufacturing baseball uniforms for what appears to be a four year old. Where would one go to find a baseball uniform for a child? None of the catalogs advertise them, so based on that and the lack of a ball and bat, I don't think it's baseball. It looks civil war era, so it might be some kind of junior military uniform (not that a four year old would enlist). Also, is the mount cut that way, with four sharp corners, or is that your cropping? I would guess the image is mid to late 60's and not baseball. But very attractive nonetheless. Children photograph well and dags of children always bring a premium, particularly wearing a uniform.

Certainly looks like a baseball player, late 1880's, not much else I can say about it.
