I'm not sure which forum is better suited for this. However, I want to know if this purported 1896 Baltimore Orioles pink is actually from that season, or of a later date? Thanks,

James- I think the pin is from a later date and was made for some Orioles reunion. It might be early 20th century (not 100% sure, though).

Someone one the memorabilia forum probably knows for certain, but I believe that Baltimore pin was made in 1906.

The pin reads "Our Old Champions" so pretty clearly it cannot date to 1896.

It definately is circa 1906 and issued to commemorate the 1896 team. I have only ever seen one example that had the original ribbon on it. The large ribbon pictures an eagle clutching a wreath and in the middle of the wreath is actually another button with the Baltimore coat of arms on it

Dr. Muchinsky, the foremost expert on baseball pinbacks, lists this pin in his book on page 557:

"Pin issued in 1906 celebrating the 10th anniversary of the champion 1896 Baltimore Orioles"

I've had a few examples of that pin over the years, at least once with the ribbon attached. As I recall it was orange and black, which were the team colors.
