This is always an easy one for me as a Cubs/pennant lover. Oversized and one other known example.

Epic trophy Matt. The original sculpture was done by Jack Lincoln Lambert. I have a Galvano example and it's always been a favorite.

Thank you for that! Some absolutely amazing cards in there. Lots of fun to read. Although since that thread was dedicated to cards, I'm going to update my OP and dedicate this thread to memorabilia and other oddball items only.

Hopefully we can get more participation. Some great stuff has already been posted in here so far as well!

Thanks for posting that link. I hadn't seen it before.

This one ranks right up there for me. It's a pic of my Uncle Sam with Mickey Mantle from the 1958 World Series.
My Uncle Sam is the man furthest away from Mick. Norm, his friend is the closest and Dizzy Trout is between them.

These threads are the best. Great stuff guys! That 1932 Type 1 Ruth photo is amazing. That photo of Mantle with your Uncle is incredibly cool as well, Irv. I would be speechless if I came across something like that in an old family photo album!

Does anyone have any early 20's photos of the Babe? Not even necessarily Type 1's, but just cool photos of him from this period. Most of the photos I see of him are from the late 20's or early 30's. Rarely do you see a photo of him from his colossal 1920/21 seasons which are often considered his greatest.

What a beauty...how about the dimensions and a shot of the engraved title plate?...what's the pursuit and capture story on that...Sure would like to see a shot of the underside of the base...and especially any markings...Is it bronze or galvano?...looks like a galvano cast but hard to tell without seeing in person...The base is dynamite!!!

I'm sort of wondering if that is by Jack Lincoln Lambert...It looks kind of like Lambert's work but may be a different casting than I've seen before...see below a 9" inch Lambert that I believe came out of a Leland's auction...

1951 Topps Ringside contract signed by my cousin, Ray Miller (card below). Got it from the Topps Vault on eBay when they released the Ringside contracts.

Here is the card itself, signed:

And a letter from Ray talking about signing Ringside cards:

Carlton............Hello. The trophy is 19" tall to the tip of the bat and the base is 13" long. It is very heavy and weighs around 18 pounds. The wooden bat is removeable. The plaque reads 'Louisville Slugger Home Run Trophy presented to Harold Little'. There are not any other markings on it. There are 2 small hooks underneath, where it must have hung when dipped? That's my guess. I don't think it's solid bronze, but maybe has an outer layer of bronze? I acquired it from a local antiques dealer about 2 years ago, and I'm not sure where he got it. He had it for a long time and said he had gotten tired of it (CRAZY!). I love it!! Thanks for asking............Matt

I've shown this before, Game used ball from Niekro's 300th win signed and inscribed to Phil from John Cerutti, who was making his first Major League start against Phil that day. Unfortunately, the inscription has faded before I acquired it, but is slightly darker in person.

First Panel Reads:

Phil, To the man I had to face in my first ML start I was going for #1 you for #300 Oct 6, 1985

attachment.jpg

2nd Panel:

The "Hall of Famer" won.
All the best
John J Cerutti

Thanks, Wolverine.

My Uncle Sam had that hanging in his den in Pontiac Michigan many many years ago and when we visited, I always looked at it.

When he passed, my Aunt Eileen, remembering that, asked that it be given to me.

He was a huge Mickey Mantle, NY Yankees, and an all around huge baseball fan that I am sure he had other things/pics/memorabilia stashed/stored away but unfortunately, with me being so young and being so far away, I never had the chance nor was afforded an opportunity to go over any of his stuff.

Default Masterpiece

Even with all of my Ruth Red Sox, Ruth Conlons, Ruth RED Sox Conlons ect. . I have to pick this masterpiece of Gehrig (by Conlon). This to me just says ... "That's Gehrig". It is my favorite image of Lou and one of my favorite baseball portraits period. It is the only confirmed type 1 and I am very lucky to own it.

My 2 favorite Gehrig photos:

1927 with Christy Walsh's son.

1927 playing sandlot ball with a group of kids

1929 photo of the Penn State Band at Yankees Stadium signed by Ruth, Gherig, and others. Most are vintage with a couple added later on.

Lastly but not leastly, my Kreindler painting of the photo Ben now owns. It is way more spectacular in person.

I'm now a Beatles guy, but still a Gehrig collector. One of my closest friends, Ben Weingarten, led me to this incredible signed set of the Boys, and stepped aside so I could add it to my collection. Now THAT'S a real friend!

And I picked up this terrific signed Gehrig Post Card made out to "me" several years ago! Would love to get a Beatles set signed to Jimmy!

Yours is still the closest I've seen, David! It's still early in the game... How about a Babe Ruth 'jimmy' Babe Ruth David? I'm pretty sure you do, but it was made out to the Bambino's friend, hence last name? Tis correct?

And I picked up this terrific signed Gehrig Post Card made out to "me" several years ago! Would love to get a Beatles set signed to Jimmy!

It sure is a beautiful set buddy. We have both helped each other build our collections in different ways. You have THE best original Beatles photo collections I have ever seen. You were also able maintain a top tier Gehrig collection through the process. Amazing and love that you posted/shared these with us. Gold.

Ps: David/Jimmy, where are all the "to Ben/Benjamin/Benny" signed items? Seriously.. I have never seen one by Gehrig, Ruth or the Beatles. Hell, I would settle for Benji...

Bob that's one hell of a couch😁. That's some serious baseball art. Those Mathewson and Johnson pieces are amazing!
