Default "Buy It Now" prices on ebay for T206s

Posted By: dapnj

Is there any ebay store sellers that sell T206s greaded PSA-5 and above for even close to fair value?

Default "Buy It Now" prices on ebay for T206s

probably not...my experience is that prices are inflated anywhere from 20%-100% of current "book" values. I have to laugh at some of the dealers who have buy it now and best offers for some of their cards that are priced way to high. I offered a guy a fair price for a T206 Shaugnessey that looked like my dog had chewed it up and spit it out....he emailed me back a rather belligerent response telling me that the card was not in poor to fair condition, that it was in excellent condition for a card that old.
I rarely find what I would call good deals on Ebay anymore. Most of the time I am just buying cards I need or have wanted at prices that are probably too high. A lot of the sellers are just plain jokes, and try to pass themselves off as being knowledgeable about vintage material. Some are good though, and I continually buy from this select group of 4-5 sellers.

Yeah, what Dave said. Very frustrating to offer someone the price of what a card sold for twice before in the prior six months and get laughed at. Why sellers feel the need to set BINs at prices that are windfalls and nothing more is beyond me. Doesn't anyone want to get simply fair value anymore?

amen guys...you used to be able to get some good deals on eBay about 5,6, 7 years ago, now forget it. these dealers have very high BIN prices, and look out when eBay has their special listing days, you will see a flood of way over-priced BIN listings...they all (95%) just sit there during the duration of the auction, and do not sell...and they are so frusterating to sort thru, when you do a search, there are so many of them!

i recently called-out a big dealer for doing this, and they defended themselves to the death (they have that right), so i just dropped the arguement, because it was a lost cause to convince them otherwise...even though i knew i was right

oh well, i'll still do my searches, but i wish cards were listed for more realistic prices

So here's the $64,000 question, if not ebay, where does one go to get higher grade T206s at fair (or a bit above fair) value?

I can't believe the rediculous prices people pay for t206s. If you consider how many more t206s there are over caramels and compare the current price difference... it really makes you wonder.

(1) There are 525 different T206 cards in the set, versus 10 to 25 in the average caramel set, so there is relative scarcity; but more importantly

(2) There are so many more T206 collectors than caramel collectors. So, even with the increased supply there is going to be greater demand

Incidentally, the fact that T206 are as readily available as they are is one of the huge draws of the set. You can hop onto ebay tonight and get yourself some. That is one of the biggest appeals.

Even if you added all the E1 cards set together and made it one big set the amount of t206's will still dwarf the E1 cards on ebay. I think T206 may be overvalued in the higher grades, but the lower grade cards go for right amount. E1 cards are all over the place in terms of value and scarcity. One thing is for sure if all i collected were t206, i would have a much easier time collecting

Collectors believe, truly believe that the T206 set is the golden chalice. The way the set defines our hobby and stands as its foundation can not be challenged and collectors naturally want to be a part of that and gravitate toward it in great numbers. All other reasoning aside for the strength of prices for T206, comparing pricing strength to any other set misses the point.

This foundation will always be there and dealers will never feel the need to wholesale T206 cards. I agree that most BIN's are unreasonable.

Finally, our own B/S/T Board here is a regular stopping point to consider regular offerings of cards from this set in a wide grade range.

Have I said before that, "I love this set"?
