Default 2nd to California, 1400 MLB players born in Pennsylvania. Show us your Pennsy guys

Pennsylvania has been a great source of ballplayers (both BB and FB) through out the years. In the "deadball" era it was the leading state in providing
many great BB players.

For example, 53 of the 389 different ballplayers in the T206 set were born in Pennsylvania. HOFer's are Honus Wagner, Christy Mathewson, Eddie Plank,
Eddie Walsh, Rube Waddell, Bobby Wallace, and Hugh Jennings.

Show us your cards, all types are welcome (this show is not limited to T206's). Anyway, I'll start with my favorite T206 of Jennings.

Note
A following post here will list the 57 players that are included in the T206 and/or T205 sets.

Frederick Martin Stoehr (pronounced "stair") grew up in Altoona before signing with the 1908 Roanoke Tigers (then sold to Anderson Electricians), and pitching for the 1909-1910 Goldsboro Giants. Here are his only baseball cards.

Yes, Herb Pennock Grew up in Kennett Square, PA in the heart of mushroom country.

Cheers, Mike

Default Carl Furillo

Thanks for the Carl Furillo post. I recall many fond memories of Carl from my youth.

He was known as the "Reading Rifle" because he had one of the greatest throwing arms in BB history. In 1951, I saw him play in Ebbets Field in an
exciting game vs the Giants. Carl threw out a runner at Homeplate from his position in RF with a 300-foot throw on the fly.
And, quite a number of times Carl would pick off a runner who hit a single to RF when the runner rounded beyond 1st base. Carl would throw to Gil
Hodges behind the runner and get him out.
Plus, Carll swung a pretty good bat. (career BA = .299), with a NL leading .344 in 1953.

............................ 1947 .................................................. 1949 .................................................. .... 1950

Carl's first three BB cards.
