Default T206 condition question...Need help

Posted By: Dave Yoken

Hi folks,

I bought a T206 Lake card in absolutely stunning condition yesterday. (The scans are below). The corners are sharp, there is no surface wear or marks, and there is beautiful gloss. The only problem is that there is some paper loss on the back (bottom left hand corner) of the card. Can you tell me what that does to the value of this card? Should I get it graded? I have never seen a T206 card is as nice shape as this one, except for the flaw on the back.

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Best,
Dave

a little miscut? nice, but i'd try to get it graded if "all" my other cards were graded, it might come in low.

I agree that the paper loss will hurt the grade. It is also a bit miscut/off centered (notice the name on the bottom has been cut through the bottom. Otherwise its a very nice looking card. If not for those two problems (and I cant tell if there are wrinkles or anything else) I would have guessed the card would get a 6. With the paper loss, no better than a 3 probably. I would still get it graded if you like the looks of a graded card. Here's a card of mine that SGC graded - this thing looks absolutely gorgeous - even better corners that that T206 of yours yet it got graded a 40 (3) by SGC. What's wrong with it? An almost unnoticable wrinkle along the bottom of the back side.

(and no that is not paper loss on the top - just a little off colored.

discoloration looks like it's from a stamp hinge and the center looks like it might be a glue stain. That's probably why it hammered.

I agree with Josh K. It is a very nice card, but the centering will hurt the grade as well as the paper loss. My guess is that it would come back as GD 2. That sounds harsh, but paper loss, even on the back can severly affect the technical grade.
Nice card.

2 things to check before sending in:

Make sure the angle cut on the bottom matches the cut on the top

The back of the top edge appears to have paper flecks that are often associated with trimming.

Great looking card,

Lee

Sorry about the link issue. I'm not sure why it isn't working.

Anyway, the eBay # for this auction, which will start tonight at 10 PM EST, is:

5180355063

Let me know if you still can't find it.

Thanks,
Dave
