Agreed, Scott. That turned out really well. Congrats!
BTW, it's really sad to hear that Mr. Howe is not doing too well health wise these days. He's a genuine icon.

Beautiful, Scott. A beater looks better framed than a nice one imo.

Default January Pick up

I actually picked up this Teddy Ballgame a month or so ago and just got around to posting. I purchased and sold a vintage Ted Williams George Burke 4x6 photo a year or so ago and was regretting it...so I was glad to add this one to my collection. The back has vintage notation explaining how the signature was obtained during the summer of 1941, which I thought made it even more special.

I'm setting the bar pretty high for myself in 2015, not sure if I will find a tougher signed HOF rookie card the rest of this year.

Casey Stengel Signed 1916 Sporting News M101 Rookie Card with Blank back and with full JSA Letter.

Awesome piece James!

My collection to date has not extended beyond baseball autographs but I've been researching early American presidential and political autographs for quite a while now, I find them fascinating and your piece is really cool.

Just picked up this neat Jim Thorpe signed Moccasin sole. I suppose it was used to get the imprint of his foot so that the moccasin could be made. The autograph has some issues but there is also an address inscription that is in his hand.

Simply the tie in with his Native American culture is enough to make this a very interesting piece to me.

Hey, someone else has one of these! I believe mine was signed in 1940 - having yours to compare it to helps, especially the 'W'!

I hope everyone's year is starting well . I have a few January pick ups; it has indeed been a good start to the year with great deals available. I am posting pics of those items I have now. I will be receiving 5-6 more items this month and will post pics of them as long as you all don't get bored with them.
None of these are new players to my collection just additional signatures of players on different mediums or with full name signatures or vintage playing days signatures.
1. A vintage Stanly Covelski, which is not his usual older and shaky signature.
2. A Zack Wheat with the rarer and alternate "Z" formation.
3. A vintage 1933 Joe Medwick album page.
4. A full large format check from Waite Hoyt
5. A full name Bill Dickey check
6. A HLS from Earle Combs
7. A vintage Charles Gehringer photo

Happy Collecting

Its a shame that they do that... Gehringer's signature has amazing eye appeal, but man... that one is exceptional!

Thanks guys, that photo even with the JSA sticker was too pretty to pass up.
I imagine one day walking through the National Archives and seeing a JSA sticker in the bottom front corner on the Declaration of Independence.

Added a couple more vintage signed baseballs. The Zim is on a 50's AA ball. I believe the Ennis is on a 50's ball; if anyone knows how to date these, I'd love to know.

Default Sal Maglie signed 1957 Topps card

Although Sal Maglie is not a particularly difficult sig to find, I have been looking for a long time to find a nice ball point pen signed example on his '57 Topps card that features him in his Brooklyn Dodgers uni.

In 1956, Sal Maglie pitched a no-hitter while he was a member of the Brooklyn Dodgers. This signed card will make a nice compliment to the two congratulatory telegrams that Sal The Barber received after his no-no.
