Default Seven stolen bases in a game.

Posted By: Gilbert Maines

It is my understanding that George Gore and Billy Hamilton share this record. There could be others I missed. But during the period of their play, advancing (for example) from first to third on a single was considered a "stolen base". How legitimate are these records, considering modern definition of the SB statistic?

George Gore actually stole 7 bases in that game so the record is very legit. He reached base 5 times and 5 times stole 2nd and twice stole 3rd.Hamilton im not sure about except i know he did it off a pitcher in his only major league game,Billy Wynne and the catcher was Dan Dugdale(if you collect old judges hes in the set as one of the Chicago Maroons players) who was a horrible catcher, only playing parts of 2 seasons in the majors,8 years apart and wasnt known for his defense
