Default Starting with tobacco cards

My wife and I are just starting to collect tobacco cards. Are there any publications that we can read that will help us in our endeavour?
Thanks

Your wife collects too?.. Your a lucky guy and good luck.

I've learned more from this Board than from any book.

if its baseball is Lew Lipset's Encyclopedia of Tobacco cards. You can find it from time to time on ebay.

With my friend Steve....You need the Encyclopedia of Baseball Cards by Lew Lipset....very commonly found on ebay for about $25-$30......Also, you should pick up a copy of the 2007 Krause Baseball price guide.....with those 2 in hand you will be well on your way....and keep checking this site out. It's a terrific resource....as well as Scot Reader's work on the subject....He is a valued board member and you can download a copy, I believe.....good luck in the hunt and welcome aboard

If you're going after more than baseball cards, Forbes & Mitchell's American Tobacco Cards.

Those are good suggestions up there....

1. Mr. Lipset's book. Fundamental. Indispensable.
2. 2007 Standard Catalog of Baseball Cards, it says Sports Collectors Digest on it and is published by Krause.
3. Scot Reader's work.
4. a copy of Mr. Heitman's, The Monster.
5. Watch what happens on eBay and this B/S/T area.
6. American Tobacco Cards, by Forbes & Mitchell, is worth having if you expand beyond baseball cards.

Then from time to time chew through what you see on this board, spit out the chaff, swallow the rest. And sometimes some of my posts are chaff!

Don't be shy about emailing someone here on the board if you have a question, or post on the board. Most of us folks here aren't as nasty as we seem.
