Default 1950's Topps Sets

I grew up collecting 1950's Topps Sets. I use to receive them one series at a time from an ad in The Sporting News and local store down the street.

How many on here currently have a COMPLETE Basic Set of any of the 1951-59 Topps Sets in their current collection ?

Since we are back on the 51s, do you have the 8 that is considered complete for the current all stars or all 11?

My lone set from the '50s is 1956. If I were to start another it would be '53 or '59

I only have the 8 issued cards. The 3 unissued cards all came up a couple years ago in an auction but I came up short

I do have nice replicas of them thanks to the creativity of another board member

I don't have any of the Topps sets. I am very close to the 55 Bowman. After I finish it and a few oddball sets I might start the 53 Topps set. I like the looks of it the best out of the 50's sets.

Hoping to soon be able to check the 1956 box. Nineteen Seventeen cards away.

The 1957 Topps set is one of my favorites -- I love the simple, photo-dominated design, the full stats on back, the background shots of the Polo Grounds, Ebbets Field and Yankee Stadium on nearly every card. Completing it a couple years ago was very tough with all the pricey rookie cards and that tough next-to-last series. Compared to that, finishing the 1956 set was a lot easier. I'm slowly working on 1958 now and probably 1959 after that.

Will have 57 and 58 done this year. 59 was finished this summer. I will go no further in the 50's however until college tuitions have ended.

I have had a hard time with a collecting focus and have started to focus on HOF collections of both 1956 and 1957 sets since I really like the 50s era as well as many of the sets.
