Nice. I would say that the seller listing it for only $420 BIN shows that nobody here interfered in the way you thought they did, otherwise his BIN would have been much higher.

Just my opinion and great pickup...looks good in a Beckett slab.

Jaime,

Dont be so quick to celebrate - according to Bulldog, our resident genius lawyer wanna be, this deal may yet be rescinded if the seller finally figures out that he was actually selling you a "rare upside down back t206 cy young card and not a common low grade t206 cy young card" as the BIN price reflects.

Jamie, you said that Sean offered him a lot more money for it than the $300 you offered, but instead he listed it for a $420 BIN. Why wouldn't the seller list it for "a lot more money" if he knew there was interest in it at "a lot more money"?

I think maybe you should have just posted your card in the May pickup threads and left it at that...I understand you were mad, but you're inviting a lot more animosity here.

JK.. the name is jamie not justin.. but yea I remember the bulldog nonsense
I was wondering If i could use the same law tactics for the seller of the house I bought.. see I didnt know it had a leaky roof... and it turned out it did.. so I wasnt 100% aware of what I was buying which must entitle me to a 50% refund..

Hopefully the seller won't retain lapdog to fight his case.

Also nice to see that the back is upside down, which is what I would expect for a misfed sheet error.

FWIW, I think you could pull over $1,000 in a major auction for the card.

the offer wasnt massively higher it was between 400 and 500.. while mine at the time was 300.. I ended up getting it for 420 which was in the same area as what sean offered...

the seller was told however that it could be worth up to 800 and that was the massively higher part

So Sean offered the guy $420 or higher after telling him it was worth $800 -- and he declined and instead put it back on ebay for $420 as a BIN?

he declined because he wanted to have it graded and sold through ebay... its my understanding that more than one person contacted him and that is where the 800 came from.. seans involvement was only that he offered a couple hundred more than i did... but selling the card through ebay was a must for the seller.

Is it just me or is "massively higher" to describe $500 an odd term for someone who just put together a T206 set in a couple weeks time?

its just you... thats massively higher for me... I built mine on a budget.. im at 519 and only 11 of my cards were over $100....

so an extra $500 for me is massively higher than both what I offered and what I could afford. This card is the 3rd highest priced card in my set.. behind only the demmitt and o'hara st louis

Jamie -- glad you ended up with the card at a price close to what you originally paid. But I believe the front is upside down, not the back (insert smiley here).

And also, congrats on getting to T206 519. I'm somewhere around 400 myself, although I've slowed down considerably, and got distracted by other cards/sets (Goudeys and T205s and Mayo Boxers and 1952 Bowmans and 1964 Kahns and ...).

Jamie, I am curious . . . in the T206 set you put together in just a few weeks (which is nothing short of amazing, so congrats), what were the 6 over $100? My guess would be the 4 cobbs, demmitt and ohara? What about Elberfeld? Can you post scans of those particular ones in your collection, they are among my favorites and I always enjoy seeing them (as do others)!

Adam I needed to correct myself.. actually 11 of the cards i bought are over 100... the green cobb, elberfeld wash, demmit, ohara, both walter johnsons, all 3 cy youngs, tris speaker, and my dark cap mathewson.

Im posting pics tommorrow of the entire 520. I am expecting to buy #520 tonight.. I have a deal in the works.

eddited to say.. it was not just a few weeks... 5 months

Jamie, congrats on the nice card!

side question - on building your t206 set, what was the biggest single lot you purchased? and if you don't mind sharing, what was the total price you spent on putting the set together?

Rob

biggest lot was 168 cards for 2400 that had 3 blank back Sl'ers and 1 red hindu.. I only needed 90 of those 168.. the rest were doubles that i sold off.

total cost assuming the deal goes through for #520 will be $11,873.50
that was alot of bargin hunting nonstop for 5 months however.. and I feel it would be nearly impossible to duplicate if I tried again... some of the deals I got were once in a long while type things.

I don't even know what the UEFA is, but I agree with Quan - we need more communist card dealers. And putting a T206 set together for under $12,000 is a heck of an accomplishment. I wouldn't have even thought that possible, I apologize and I take my earlier statement about the $500 back.

...But I think you ought to return the card and have the seller let it run in an auction so that the true value of the card is realized. As long as one side is unaware of the true value of the card, you don't have a binding sale and the authorities may come to reclaim your prized possession.

However, I am satisfied now that ebay will get a fee -- though, granted, much less than ebay deserves since the card was sold undervalue. My advice would be to send them a check for the difference.

You guys are hilarious. You abuse John for being sarcastic...and then you do all that you can to mimic the same behavior while giving him a kick in the ass. Paul, maybe during your next deep poetry session or investigative report on the history of one of your cards you could bother to grab a dictionary and look up the word 'ironic.'

Jamie;

No issues with the way you grabbed this card BIN is a no questions way of snagging a card congrats.

“I was wondering if captian sarcasmo would join the thread... but he’s off tourmenting someone else I guess”

Next time drop me a few more emails filled with profanities accusing me and someone else of killing your deal by offering the seller tons more than you, which seems now to be a real stretch. Then maybe I’ll know to chime in and bust your balls.

Jeff, LOL very funny and true. This dictionary could be a dual purpose thing perhaps Paul can help Jamie learn to spell “Captain” and “Tormenting” while he looks up irony.

After all I’m just a rookie Jeff, I may not know how to "Roll" like Jamie but at least I "Roll" with spell-check.

P.S. Jamie YOUR'RE welcome for the advice on the card prior to your purchase, I believe it was Captain Sarcasmo who chimed in to help you…

Jamie, congrats on your card. I love print and color variations and it's nice to have them sprinkled through out your set. What is amazing to me is that you were lucky enough to be the first one to see it on Ebay with a buy-it-now. Did the seller give you a heads up?

A pet peeve of mine is when someone uses "your", which is possessive, instead of "you're" which is the contraction for "you are". A person who doesn't know the difference gets extra points from me when they criticize someone's spelling at the same time.

Spel chek helpss a lott uv peepol, but where doo they turn too fer grammmer advice? Maybe next to my deep poetry webpage I can post a link to MSWord's grammar check page.

(Yes, apparently this bitch-fest has been reduced to a spelling and grammar fight.)

I'll leave you all with this haiku:

Cry me a river
Of baseball cards that are old
That's what I collect
