Default Looking for Info - Baseball Glove Inkwell

I've googled this thing and can't seem to find anything - looking for info.

It belong to my grandfather, no idea when or where he got it.
It's silver and weighs about a pound.
It has no unique marks on it, except under the lid there are 5 marks that could be just nothing or Japanese letters

Anyone have information or maybe someone you can direct me too.

Thanks

Nice figural piece from the teens. It's almost impossible to find much info on these pieces and that really isn't important. What matters really is the eye appeal and condition. Once in a while an ad will turn up showing a year etc. this looks like a nice quality piece. Is the lid damaged?

Thanks Mike - that's more info than I had

Yes, the lid (if I recall when I was a kid) was attached to the base.
As you can see the lid is no longer attached.
The pin is still in there.
