Default Sweating out Goodwin Thread

Someone had to launch this. I've got about 6 bids in, maybe a couple more to come. Surely will go to 3 am, even if I don't?

I think the whole Goodwin thing is a sham setup to get me to sell my Drum back with them, so then when it goes for $2000, Ashton Kutcher will personally deliver me my check and tell me I was Punk'd. It's elaborate I'll admit, but I'm not falling for it

BTW, the only thing I'm thinking about bidding on(still) doesn't have a bid yet at $100, so that tells you where I'm at with collecting right now. That's why they're not getting my Drum, I'd have that money spent well in advance and would be crying when it got no bids

Any other impressions on the "semi-rare" backs so far? Seems like they are confirming or expanding recent price surge (in some, not all, cases), obvious close attention to pop reports, even if limited.

Dang...wish the chatroom was working. Anyone know how late Goodwin's auctions last? I have a group I'm "sweating out", but it's as a "consigner" not as a bidder....heh

These Drum backs are just getting completely out of hand IMO. How these backs have jumped up almost 5-10X what they were selling for a couple years ago is beyond me. I highly suggest if anybody has plans on selling Drums from their collection to do it NOW. This smells like a really foul stench filled bubble that's destined to burst in the near future. Great time for sellers, horrible time for buyers. Whoever is paying these stupid prices right now, are gonna be left with no chair and completely lost when the music stops because when the bottom falls out, nobody in their right mind is gonna pay these people on resale for moronically overpaying for a fad. It happened with candy and bakery cards, and it WILL happen again eventually with this current back craze.

Brian,
You've got another 5 hours or so to "sweat" if this one is like his others.
Good luck, Mike

Brian,

The last one I bid in ended at 5:10am, est. I won the card I was after, then had to go straight to work.

Best of luck on your consignment!

i have gone to bed....then woke up at 5am the next morning and it was still going.

ridiculous. there is no need for every single auction to get drawn out that long. up the time out on a single item to like 30 minutes so the average guy buying one or two really important items for his collection can go to bed.

We could always set a Skype chatroom up

I loved how trolly the auction was a few minutes ago. Down to 8 minutes, HA

The Drums are going to a master set builder.....I don't think resale is even part of the thought process.

It's not a current back craze, it's here to stay, i would hold on to them even longer, they will rise even more. the people with lots of cash need something to throw it at.

david hall took out a full page ad in SMR just advertising for looking to buy rare backs.

Just joking with Kevin, you guys give me to much credit. Besides no way I can be up for the next 14 hrs of "extended" bidding to even think of bidding against any of you....

Speaking of no chance in hell or dump the 401k hate to be in the market for a Drum with the Great "Hall" of David out there.

It's been said many times over, all bubbles, no matter how big or small, eventually burst. Especially in hobbies. Art, coins, comic books, sports cards, sports cars etc. you name it, it's burst.

During the REA I was just like Kevin. I was going to get my card no matter what the cost! Wonka decided to get a card similar to mine, rather than the one I wanted. If he had wanted mine I would have been left far behind, no matter how much I wanted it.
Hope you get yours too, Kevin.

This is insane. I'm glad I didn't stay up either.

If you look at the recent bids, it's the cards that are going for less than $1K that keep getting bid on.

I don't even get the theory behind keeping them going this long and the 15-minutes for ANY bid. Wouldn't auction houses benefit by ending at hour when nearly entire bidding audience is still awake and ready to spend--rather than losing nearly everyone overnight? I don't even get the theory behind dragging it out. And also severely limit by only letting you bid on what you've already bid on.
