Default Half finished Mantle?

I find this odd. I have a 3x5 in the same red ink that looks good. Not sure about this. You can make out he beginning of Mantle, but I lose it after the N. What are y'all's thoughts on this. I'm sorry if my auto post are too much. My eyes are bad and I have little to no experience with signatures that I didn't get myself. As always: Your help is appreciated.

It's hard to tell, but the signature looks good as far as form goes. It may be missing as Mantle had a stamp signature for a while in the 70's for mail requests if I remember correctly. If it's pen, then it looks good.

Thanks for the info. It looks like ink to me. I was questioning the form. I'm happy with it. Thanks for the response.
