I just completed the 1973 baseball set. It took the better part of 6 years or so.
I bought the HoF's first with Schmidt being the first card I bought. $75 bucks for a sharp 5.5. The last card I needed was #590 Deron Johnson. Tough card to find centered, however I found one. Most of my set is un-graded except for the HoF's. The set is fairly well centered, but again, the cards are difficult in centered condition. Iconic rookie card in Schmidt with the last cards of Mays and Clemente. The set is loaded with HoF's. This was the first set I seriously collected as a kid. I loved those cards and while they are long gone, the past 6 years gave me an opportunity to be a kid again. This set of cards will be with me for the rest of my life. They're my time machine.

I'm down to needing 3 cards to finish my 1958 Topps set. But I'm getting frustrated as I'm having trouble finding them. I've found them for absurd asking prices on eBay, and I'm not going to overpay just to finish a set. So I'm thinking about just giving up on it and moving them all and finding another set to build.
I'm just getting started on a 1957 Topps set, which is my all time favorite set. I only have about 220ish, but I've got a large lot of 100 different (taken off my needs list, so none will be dupes of what I have) that should be here tomorrow or Friday. Most of them are in Ex to NM condition and most are from the very tough midseries set. So that would be put me about 315, which isn't close. But still close enough to try and finish.

Super impressive Bob...what percentish are graded? In awe of your posts on the 1953 Thread... Finished a set today...1970 Topps. My birth year so a special year for me. My goal is to re-do the 60's sets and had no plan on doing a 1970. Got a great deal here on net54 about a year ago on a nice 70 lot, then got lucky at a local find with some really tight cards. Since then, just chipping away with no real focus and before I knew it was like 20 away. It was also a great way to upgrade my original set, it's now exmt+. Super cool to have 2 sets, and I'd call the new set VG/EX+ to EX with some EXMT. A few need upgrading from the inital lot, and that's the fun to fine tune... Last card...#640 Al Kaline. A little OC, but sharp. First time I completed the set it was Johnny Bench, I got him early this time...

I am down to needing one card to finish my 72 Topps set. My intensified search for a nice #700 Bobby Murcer In Action has begun.
He will be my last card for this set. Woot! Almost there. Butch

Picked up 10 more cards for my 55 topps set, including a pretty nice 2nd year Killebrew at the Chantilly show over the weekend. That brings me to 194/206 or 94.1%. Just got a few of the big cards left so hoping to wrap it up in the next few months.
