Default T207 set finish line

About 11 years ago I bought a small lot of about 15 T206 cards on ebay. When the lot arrived there was a card with a brown background in there. It was a T207 George. I was hooked. Over the next few years I aimlessly picked up other T207s that I liked not knowing what I was getting into. About 6 years ago, I bought a lot of about 80 T207s (on this board) and started to get serious about the set. I still didn't have that many of the tougher cards and had no clue how tough they would be to find. I started to trade, purchase, scratch and sniff around for any card that I didn't have. In one instance I traded away my whole 1910 Obak collection of about 100 cards for a Donlin. A couple of days ago, I picked up a Lowdermilk and Mogridge to finally complete my set. It's been a long process, but I've really enjoyed collaborating with other T207 collectors and learning about the set.

Thanks a bunch to many here including Mike Frohme, Marc DelPercio., David G., Ron Rice, Mike Brailey, Alan, Larry Moe, Tbob, Tim Newcomb, Michael S, Frank Ward, Dave S, and John Spano! This set can't be completed without help from other collectors. Thanks all.

Rob

Default Congrats!

That's an unreal accomplishment. I can't even imagine having 100 obaks and trading them for a single card. Very cool.

Way to go Rob!

I've been trying to put together a sub-set of the "easy" cards in t207 and even that has been a challenge (for me anyway).

Congratulations! Love the t207's

Default T207 complete...impressive

Congrats Rob...if after three decades of looking at vintage cards a particular card only looks 'somewhat' familiar to my eyes, then it is not too easy to come by. The T207 is loaded with these cards. When going after such a group of cards persistence counts, and Rob, you must have persistence buried in the backyard and you are constantly digging it up with spades.

Way to go Rob! The T207's are my favorite set and, as anybody who has tried it can attest, a serious challenge to complete. Thanks to you as well for your help in putting my set together. Now if I could just find that pesky Birmingham and McCarthy...

Thanks again guys. If you can't share the excitement here, then where can you share it?

What's next?

I'm actually almost done with M116. I only need 4 cards. After that, maybe I'll become a type collector.

I also need one more T206 for my set (O'Hara). Won't go for the other 4 anytime soon. And I need one more D322.

So, trying to tidy things up a bit with those sets.

I've given up several sets (T204, T205, E90, E94) in order to concentrate on these two right now so maybe a return to one of those later.

Rob

Good job Rob!!!
Welcome to the small and exclusive club of those who love the brownies and have had the perserverance to complete the set.
Mogridge has proven to be a very, very tough card which is on many checklists.

Default T207

Congrats, Rob! Awesome set! I've been enjoying T207's for about 3 years myself. It's bizarre how you can end up getting a few of the toughest ones for $100 or so while others go for $1000 or more. The price guides seem way off on this set! It's a great set for trading with other collectors.

Default What an Awesome Collecting Accomplishment!

Rob,
I just read your thread, and after all that I have read and learned about on the board and other places about T207s, I would have to say that this is quite a monumental acheivement in the collecting world! Glad to hear that your passion towards this set paid off and I know you are also getting extremely close toward that M116 goal of yours as well. Great to hear when great people have success!
Take Care,
Tim Kindler

Great to hear another one has crossed the T207 finish line - glad to hear you finally got those last two!!

Sounds like that's one monkey off the back, couple of other ones still hanging on...

Tough set. The T-207 Cycle back is one of the most attractive of all card backs.
