Sorry to hear about your dog. I had to put my 13yr old Rottweiler down last Friday because of bone cancer. I cried like a little kid.

Rich, I am very sorry for your loss.

I, too, am an animal lover.

Six months ago one of our cats (Matty) had a heart attack overnight. He hung in there until I could get him to the vet and then he passed in my arms. It was heart-breaking. It always is....

Be well.

That sucks Rich, losing an animal that defines "unconditional love" is a tough thing...

Default schnauzers...

I grew up with Miniature Schnauzers...they are so loyal and loving...GREAT lap dogs. I was devastated when my Schnauzer "ran away" when I was 12. Be happy that you and your pet were able to stay together for so long. Tough loss, but try to look at the positive!

I'm so sorry, Rich. I've had dogs my entire life, and there's nothing harder than having to say goodbye. May God comfort you in this very difficult time.

sorry for your loss, Rich. I have a redbone and he and I have become fast friends over the past few years. He's starting to slow down a little, but still jumps the fence to chase the deer from time to time. It's amazing how much you grow to love them. All my best to you.

Sorry for your loss Rich. We just lost (one of) our two 20(est.) year old cats and it was like losing a family member. The other one isn't far behind either. My condolences-

Sorry for your loss Rich. I had an up day as a veterinarian as it was my first day back to work after my spinal stroke 3 years ago. I still have it in me. Life is good in my part of the veterinary world but I am truly sorry for your loss.

Sorry to hear about your dog. I've been through this a few times, and it's always been very tough. A dog's life is short. I'm pretty sure that you made it a good life.

And KMAC, glad to hear that you're back at it.

Very Sorry Rich - Also been thru it many times. Each time I've always said "not gonna go thru that again" but somehow I always manage to pick up another (or 2 or 3).

Super hard thing but it will pass and you will find another best buddy.....

My condolences Rich. We lost a lab puppy to distemper over the summer and that was a hard loss for us. Having a dog for that long and losing it must be that much more difficult.

Default So Sorry

Rich,

When you see the picture for my username you see the best friend I have had. Sam was a great loyal and loving dog. He was there through many difficult times. I lost him in Feb 2012 and have yet to bring a new dog in to my home. I plan too in the coming months but it has been tough.

Dogs are so much nicer than humans...my favorite saying is:

I strive to be the person my dog thinks I am !!!
