Default Removing marks on wire photos-Help

I would like some assistance regarding removing marks on wire photos. This particular photo looks as if there are a few different substances on it. One looks like an orange grease pen. Another looks like whiteout. Any help on professionally removing these? What do you use? Thanks
Paul

Personally, I'd leave them - they are part of the history of that piece. I love news photos that are marked up! For grading, we (Beckett) do not count off for them because it was the intention of the item that they would be marked, but we specify on the label that were "editorially used".

If you still want to try, buy a lot of some junk photos - you can always find tons of random photos that are of little interest to people, for pennies. Try several things... I know I was able to use Goo-Gone on a comic book that someone used a grease pen on. Worked well, and made the comic smell orangy fresh, too!

Default Goo Gone

This particular photo has four guys in it, and all of there faces were X'd out, so I have to try and correct that. Funny you should say goo gone, because the seller of the photo recommended it too. Thanks

A Hi-Polymer eraser works great on grease pencil. You can get one at Staples or any office supply store.

Depending on the masking material sometimes a damp rag is all it takes.
