Default Collection storage

Hi all,

Looking for input on if I should be worried about storing my collection (mainly tickets/programs/paper items - www.colgatefootballcollection.com) in the basement of my new house. It is a finished/temp controlled area and I have no concerns about water/flooding. Everything would be off the floor anyway, but wanted to get input before my wife kills me for trying to takeover a bedroom.

Thanks,
Ryan

Moisture is your enemy. There shouldn't be any sunlight so you should be fine there. Good luck

Depending on the part of the country that you live, you may want to invest in a dehumidifier(s). Living in Houston, I have two dehumidifiers in my office that sucks out the moisture where I collect all my memorabilia. They work great and keep the moisture out - especially during the summer months.

I learned the hard way after Hurricane Sandy that flood insurance doesn't cover anything in the basement other than the mechanicals. Boiler, hot water heater, washer/dryer etc. Of course I never read my policy until I needed it. fI you are not in an area prone to flooding of course not an issue.
