Default Do you like to get ebay discounts--

But regularly miss them
because you're not aware of them?

I don't want to hijack jt's thread,
http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=252694
But no one is responding!

Here's what Leon said about providing a Net54 link to Ebay discounts:

We could have a link to the ebay area that has the specials but not sure that will help a lot. Random seems to be working ok.

Are you interested in having such a link, one which you can regularly check to save money?

Personally, I see savings and no downside,
and I would think that many others on Net54 would be interested.
But maybe it's just me.

If you have an opinion, weigh in on this.

Is there a particular place that the special is usually shown which we could have a permanent link to? IN the spot above here, which says SHOP PRE-WAR AUCTIONS in red, we could easily put a link to ebay promos? That said if not many members are interested we will just leave it the way it is.

It sounds like it might help a lot of members if this link was added to the site, including those who might get a few extra sales due to the promotions. I don't see much of a downside to adding it if you're saying it wouldn't be much of a hassle Leon.

One issue is that many of these promotions (at least for ebay bucks) are for selected people only and not transferrable. Ebay doesn't send these to everyone. God knows what the calculus is.

Seems like the general 15% discounts are a lot less frequent.

I spent a bunch of money on ebay last week and missed the damn discount, I'd love something that caught my eye.

The title reminds me of a Robert Shimmel joke:

"No."

No worries whatsoever about any hijacking from my crappy thread Sir.

I hope this works out, but who knows? Not talking about sharing anything

to do with ebay bucks, but only % off's etc. If it's feasible and Leon approves,

maybe it will work. Good luck.....jt

P.S. I visit ebay daily, but rarely visit ebays front page, which is why some might miss these bulletins about % offs etc.

Personally, I (and I'm pretty sure most everyone else) always see the announcements of ebay discounts (usually the standard 15% offer) posted by considerate members right here on the main page, and don't believe I have ever missed one. Those threads never seem to get buried and remain near the top, making them immediately recognizable. And they are usually put there early in the day, so there's no harried rush to take advantage of the offer before it expires. If someone wants a special posting for such things, I'd be on board for it, but I believe it's working fine as is.

The ebay promotions are always listed on their home page if they are running a special or promotion. I think to add a link to eBay's home page is kinda pointless. I would hope by now, everyone would know of the website. I do agree that most of us don't visit their home page and just keep an eye on the watched list and saved searches list. I think the way we have been doing it so far works best and that's just sharing the info on Net54's main page as a post. I do use the specials and usually end up purchasing from one of the members here, that list on ebay. Most recently a purchase from Luke.

Most likely we will put a link up there because some members want it and it won't hurt anything. There are tons of links there so most likely we will just put a red link that says Check Ebay Promos so members will only have to click once. When we put in the water cooler section some members didn't want it either. But it's never hurt much. And much like most websites in our hobby we are an ebay affiliate so extra clicks to ebay is good.

Chris,
Do you know if any of those vendors on your list are baseball card sellers?

Just click on the collectibles section---sportscards
It seems that gamesandcards.com and sportsmemoribilla are the 2 main card stores in that list.

This is done so now it is always one click to check promotions on ebay. Shop Ebay Promotions. It is in the box, upper left corner, with the other ebay links to our cards and memorabilia. Thanks for the suggestions. Members can still post promos but this link will be there too.

Default Thanks Leon,

But I just don't see it.

It's true that I often don't see things right under my nose; just ask my wife.
But I just don't see it.

Meanwhile, yesterday, I was vexed to learn that I'd again lost out on a $50 discount!--

I bought a big, for me, card--an 1888 Goodwin Dan Brouthers--for $425 on Sunday night.
I put off paying, hoping for a discount to appear.
I checked the Net54 Homepage and the ebay listing [Thanks, Eric, for pointing that out, tongue in cheek though it may have been. But apparently Ebay does not list all its specials there]. No discounts.
So, finally, Tuesday morning, I had to pay.
Sure enough, when I came home later on and looked at the Homepage,
there was njdunkin's thread announcing a maximum $50 discount.
I left at 9:05 and must have missed it by ten minutes.

I'll be curious to see, when I locate it, if the Net54 link had njdunkin's discount on it.

The link is in red and says SHOP EBAY PROMOTIONS. It is right above here and right below the red icon on the left that says Net54baseball Home Page. I checked and the promotion was there once it went live.

At least I'm not blind; mine doesn't say "Shop Ebay Promotions".
My Net54 Homepage says:

Shop Pre-war Auctions

Maybe it hasn't updated yet?

It is your cache. It is there. There are a few ways to clear cache (as you might know) and over time it will clear (*I think). Sometimes the F5 key is it, if on a regular keyboard. Then there are system tools to easily do it too.
When it's cleared you will see it. Happy saving.
Sometimes when I have to spend to save it doesn't feel like saving.
